New trend?
Seems like we have many new watches that at least have been long waiting lists for. Has something changed related to Rolex supply? Do we see a light in the tunnel?
I think i know the answer but just wanted to ask... |

I was at an AD yesterday. They were well picked over; they mentioned that there were no more shipments for a while due to the Rolex shutdown.

Still not one hot model in my plate this year. But I couldn’t blame my AD. So got to snatch some LEs on other brand and couldn’t be happier.

My local AD had nothing of note when I was in about three weeks ago.

Its not uncommon for Rolex to send out one last batch of watches before the famous Christmas hiatus in Geneva.

I believe there is literally nothing that can be deduced about the world (or even continental) supply by looking at reports of incoming watches on TRF - extremely small and quite skewed sample/tiny percentage of Rolex buyers who generally buy more watches each than the typical buyer. Likely a better way would be to keep an eye on prices from Grays in different parts of the world. To me, rising or consistently higher than retail pricing on many TRF-preferred models means the supply of those available at retail is still many fewer watches than the number of ready buyers.

Unless I haven’t been paying attention, most if not all of the incomings in December have been in the US. Lots of BLRO’s, Daytonas, BLNR’s, Hulks, Subs, etc. I can only speak from my AD experience but they received quite a few pieces this month, however at least half or more were presold already.
I suspect many US dealers also got “bonuses” pre-Christmas, only time will tell if this is the beginning of a trend or just an anomaly. And even if shipments pick up most dealers probably have backlogs of orders to fill before watches make it back to the case. |
