Complicated Rolexes.

Guys, I just want to know if Rolex ever did or does make any complications in their watches?..I have seen vintage versions with very dressy chronos and fakes with complete calendar displays but no real Rolex watches with deep complications..just wondering..thnx a lot

It was a vintage rolex

The only complicated thing on rolexes nowadays is their price

Judging by some of the posts, just setting the date and time is complicated enough!

lol....

The only complications I see are the old vintage chronos and moonphase like mentioned above.

Also, some new models are considered complications depending on what you consider a complication. The Daytona is a chrono with a 72 hr power reserve that I consider one of the best movement. The YMII is a complication, this model is the first watch to have a timer that acts the way it does, by choosing your countdown time.

Technically...the day, date and the chronographs are complications.

BTW, this is a very informative site if you've never seen it.

LOL..I found some responses very funny..the prices are sure very complicated and setting times i think have also been found to be complicated..ROFL....

yeah I think they only tried moonphases and stuff but Rolex is a very focused brand with perfect utility and purpose on their side rather than stuff that only increases price and has little or no use..I like their utilitarian approach.

Hi Asad,

In the past Rolex has made many complicated Rolex watches.

My favorite complicated Rolex watch is owned by John Goldberger and appears in his book titled "100 Superlative Rolex Watches." It is a Rolex Black Star Moonphase and there are only a few of them that were ever made. The one that belongs to John is in "New Old Stock" condition, meaning it is flawless and it is worth around $300.000 in U.S. Currency.

Also I attatched another photo from his book of the most complicated Rolex ever made. It is a triple date Chronograph that has been dubbed the Jean-Claude Killy.

There are many, many more complicated Rolex watches that are no longer made. Hopefully Rolex will bring them back, because they are coooool!!!!

Happy New Year,

Jake

WOW, that Jean-Claude Killy would make even Daytona and Speedmaster owners cry, it sure is a fine machine.

Thanks for the photos of the black star.
If my memory serves me correctly they did this type of watches with different dials.
One was sold at auction for quite a lot of money, but I can't remember which one it was.
Can you help?

PS by coincidence just noticed that my current post count was in fact the year that I was born!
