1970's President Value?

Ok all,
I need some help. I have a chace to get a 1970's Rose Gold President in good shape. What is the price range to purchase such a watch? I know there are a lot of factors in deciding a sale / buy price. I'm looking for a ballpark.

Thanks,

I don't know the answer, sorry... but I've seen a RG president recently and they are absolutely beautiful. What color is the face? Please post pics if you buy!

Agreed. Depending on dial add-ons (if any). Probably closer to the "6" than the "9" these days.

I'd price that watch at not much more than $5K. Once it lands it's probably going to need a $600 - $1,000 RSC overhaul to make it right and give it provenance, then there's the issue of how bad is the bracelet......

I agree with Al. Especially in this economic climate I wouldn't want to part with any more than 5k. And that's top dollar. Less if I can get away with it.

I'm curious - did Rolex make RG Presidents in the Seventies? I'm curious because I've never seen an older RG DD.

Then again, I've led a very sheltered life.

This RG President was purchased in Europe. A retired AD, who use to service this watch, told me Europe was the only place you could get it. Rolex did not import in to the States.

Thanks for the input. If I can work a deal I'll post some pics.

That's incorrect. YG, WG, and RG DD's have always been available in the USA since the late 50's. The problem is that YG always outsold the other two by a wide margin especially here in the USA. As far as given you a value it would be impossible without pics and model#, as 70's DD's came in plastic/crystal models and sapphire/crystal single quick date change models. Also a great deal of the value is in the bracelet, with streched bracelets taken a big hit in value compared to non-streched or little streched bracelets.

Hello friend, If you are not a collector, I would sacrifice a little extra
cash and buy a nice double quick change day and date.

Back to your watch

The market conditions at this moment dictate the following prices.
From 1970 a "plastic crystal slow change day and date watch" in good condition
$3,800 $4,000
For a single quick in great condition I will pay...
$5,800

Wow - 1675 GMT worth more than that.
