114060 vs this!!!!
Ok, I know the styles are completely different, but kind of getting tired of not being able to walk into an AD and check out a Rolex before making the purchase.
I mean would you ever purchase a vehicle without even being able to sit in it once? ... anywho, enough ranting. Have a new watch itch I want to scratch. The dial looks amazing, but other than their senators, don’t know much about the brand. Any thoughts on the Glashutte Original Sixties? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Don’t settle! If the Sub is what you want, you will be patient enough and find a way to get it. Happy hunting!

This more of a dress watch. Different styling compared to a 114060.

In isolation it is ok, but next to a Sub it is totally meh...

I would hold out to get the Sub but that's because I prefer the Sub better.
I think the Glashutte is still a very nice watch. If you think you won't regret not waiting then go for it.

Yes, hence the first sentence....”I know the styles are completely different...” One could still compare watches. Just trying to get thoughts and more information on the watch and the brand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just follow your heart (i.e., Submariner) to avoid buyer's remorse at the end.

I can see why you’re looking around. The concept of buying something so expensive without trying on is a difficult one. I also considered Glashutte but it was the Original Seventies model. I just don’t think the brand draws me as much as Rolex does in terms of history and whatnot.
But, on a watch for watch basis, I think you’ll find that the GO isn’t as robust or as versatile as the Submariner would be. Service periods will be wildly different too. The Sub is a better ‘go anywhere do anything’ piece. The GO, for me at least, is much more formal and wouldn’t wear as casually as the Sub. If you wanted something inbetween I’d look at a DJ41. Oh, and a word on buying unseen, I’ve bought cars that i’ve never been able to test. YouTube reviews and lots and lots of reading are your friend. I think by now I’ve watched every YouTube video of the Sub that’s available. |

I really dislike that dial. Looks like a kids spin art work, sorry.

GO watches run the gamut from Sports to Dress, they're very well made and finished with hand decorated movements. You'd be better off posting your question in the Non Rolex forum.
Jocke has posted several fantastic pics of his in there.

Wait for the Sub, Glashutte is a no go for me. If German, Lange wins every time.

I bought my 114060 without ever seeing it in person, except on a passerby’s wrist. From a trusted seller Sohail here on the forum. It was 3 years ago this week and love it.
I saved for 2-3 years to buy it. I almost bought something else after a year and a half but I’m glad I didn’t. Good luck. That’s a beautiful dial and watch. I don’t know anything about them. Ask Jeeves about it. One thought that might be of interest...or not. If you buy it now will you still be thinking about the Rolex. If you wait and by the Submariner are you going to be thinking about this watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies!
Guess I’ll keep waiting for the 114060... or maybe the 214060???.... The heart wants what it wants... sigh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that Glashutte!
Believe me, I totally understand your frustration! Matter of fact, the AD across the street from where I will be getting my 114060 has that exact Glashutte in the window! Glashutte is an outstanding brand IMO. If that is what you are looking for! I have thought many times of walking in and getting that exact model. I absolutely love the "Peacock" dial on that. But, again, it is not a Rolex Sub. Have you actually ordered the Sub yet? From what I understand from my AD, the wait is not as long as for some other Rolex sports models. Hang in there, if the Sub is what you really want. Cheers, Carl

Don’t do it man. One day you will look at it on your wrist and say to yourself...I should have gotten the Sub.

^^^ So true. Besides, I don’t go German often, but when I do, it’s a Lange.

Just for interest sake, a link to a report on the making of the Glashutte dials, featuring the one on the watch you are looking at:
https://deployant.com/the-making-of-...vintage-dials/ While I still think you should go for the Sub, even though it may take a while, there is a lot to be said for the craftsmanship of a Glashutte. Cheers, Carl

I too was hesitant to buy a Sub having only tried on the Sub Date once (the Smurf) at an AD in Chicago and the older Bluesy a buddy of mine has. I never tried on the 114060 until I put on the one I bought. I had reservations - would I think it too small (my current watch rotation was a 42mm and 44mm); would the lugs be too huge (I probably, if forced to pick, prefer the thinner lugs of the 14060); was the taper too much on the bracelet (current rotation has much less taper). But since I put it on, I can't stop staring at my 114060. The ceramic bezel is damn amazing. The black of the bezel and the dial are liquid black. The glidelock bracelet is the best watch bracelet I've ever worn. And while the lugs are still a tad "blocky" for me, they do make the watch look more like a 42mm watch. I really should write a full review. Anyway, I bought the Sub never having seen it in person (I live in NW Ohio; unlike big cities, there are way fewer Rolex wearers here) and don't regret it for a second. Love, love, love it. So hold out for it. If you can. |

Ditto to that. I literally watched hour after hour of YouTube videos on the Submariner. My wife started laughing about it. "How can you watch all those."

You can compare all the watches you like. I guess you could even compare the Rolex to something like a fridge or a banana. But its kind of is hard to give you feedback when you compare different things.

Looks like the type of watch you'd buy from a small brand for $300. Sometimes I feel boring for just loving Rolex' classic design but then I remind myself that it is classic for a reason.
