Looking at purchasing a Kermit
Hello everyone,
Here’s my situation, I bought a gold and stainless datejust II awhile back as my first foray into the Rolex world. Personally I have always had a soft spot for the datejust as it’s always epitomized what I thought a Rolex should be. Fast forward 8 months my mind has started to wander and I’ve inquired on possibly trading it and cash towards a D serial Kermit, supposedly old new stock. Has box but no papers. What is a reasonable number for that watch and what are things to watch out for. Thanks! |

The things to watch out for are many.
But I would be very, very wary of a watch that's claimed to be NOS which has no papers. Perhaps best to move on and find an example with more credibility. The for sale section of reputable Rolex watch forums would be a good place to start. And keep doing your research Good luck. |

Watch out. You're most likely buying an LN with a green bezel added.

I would not buy a 16610LV without the paperwork. There are enough around that you should be able to find a full set and when you want to sell it you will be sorry if you don't have the full set.

Get the serial and go to a AD and ask them to look it up on their computer, it will state if it is a genuine LV.

I would avoid an undocumented NOS, you should be able to find a clean pre owned full set on here by one of the forums trusted sellers.

As for OP: Plenty of great examples out there that are complete. Check out SD Watches aka Justrolexes here. Tony has plenty of them for sale and most mint/complete.

Oops, yes this is what I meant. Red flags are flying about as high as possible in this case imo. |

IMHO, there's no reason not to buy a Kermit without papers if it's cheap enough, and as long as you can have it verified as genuine & then enjoy wearing it.

Now I’ve done some homework on the shop that is selling it and they have good reviews and history. The watch is a D serial number so later model I believe (06 maybe). That being said I did consider for the same money or close to I could get a hulk or a batman, I do believe the hulk is a superior watch in construction in some regards. But ultimately I’m looking for a great everyday watch that is also unique. Any pro’s and cons to these models? Thanks again for the insight, greatly appreciated!
