Thoughts on this 16800.
Any help appreciated. Just trying to buy this 16800 produced in 1984 serial number 8.4 million. Thoughts on dial, hands, lume and bezel insert please, or any other concerns.
I only have the 1 photograph, been looking to pick up a 16800 and finding it harder to get a decent example. Thanks in advance. |

Would it still be worth purchasing with the Luminova hand set ?
It’s the matte dial 16800 I’ve been after. |

If it's got non original parts - it's like triggers broom....If I were you ... I would leave it

The more I think about it the more I know you guys are right, the handset will be a deal breaker for purchasing, it’s a shame because I really liked the matte dial.

Plenty of original 16800 matte dials out there to choose from , & well worth the wait for the right one to come along . Good luck hunting

I'd hold off like others said. Service insert and what look like luminova service hands. Patience is the best tool when looking for something like this. The right one will come to you in time.
What's the price though? |

I went back to see the watch and took a UV light with me, there was no glow from the hands at all, I was expecting to see them light up, does Luminova lose its glow over a period of time too.

I would expose it to sunlight for a few minutes and view it in a dark room...if nothing glows it might be original tritium

Thoughts on this 16800.
Luminova hands should glow brightly for a while after UV exposure. And at that price it’s a definite pass.

No glow from either of the hands under the UV light, does this mean that the hands could be original hands or is something else suspect with them.
I put the UV light on my 16610 and it glowed brightly for a while as you suggested. |

They are not original - check any 16800 matte dials around, even if somehow the white hands didn't get at least a bit of patina, there is usually a bit of corrosion on the hands
