Is it the norm for ADs to offer longer warranties?
I'm just wondering.
I remember when I was going around looking for the best deal, most ADs offered three extra years of warranty (for a total of five). Is that the norm?

My AD offers the standard 2 years plus an additional 3 years of coverage through the RSC. I doubt I will need it, but it's nice to have.

The AD's in my area don't offer anything like that, its amazing how this could help their sales. I would have bought my 16613 from an AD if I could have recieved 5 years coverage, plus imagine if Jeweler Mutual worked with AD's and pushed their coverage, you could get your new investment warranteed, and insured all in one stop, I think JM and Rolex are leaving money on the table

My AD in town offers 5 years on every watch they sell. They only sell new all good brands.
Rolex, Cartier, Panerai, JLC, Breitling, etc. They do no work in house. If anything goes wrong, they ship it to the manufacturer and pick up the tab.

Extended warrenties are the biggest waste of space and money should you choose to buy them. Statutory rights indicate what is acceptable and what is not. If a watch is going to fail due to a build or faulty part issue it will IMO happen way before the expiry of the standard 2 yr warrenty. Just my opinion though. I know the extended warrenty is free, but it is a selling tool not a good will gesture as they know the percentage of watches failing between 2-5 yrs.

If the extended warranty is free of charge your AD is a superb
customer service professional who assures long term client AD association and the "greys" in his area should start tremble. If he is charging..??? Just another greedy dead beat jeweler that his local "grey" is running circles around him. It is unlikely that a Rolex watch would need anything for the next 8-10 years and if it does, it will appear within the first month of wear....period..YOU are covered. |

It is normal for the AD to add extra warranty for no charge.
