Fake or real?

Hey everyone. I hope you are all doing well. My stepdad gave me this audemara piquet royal oak and I am just wondering if any of you can confirm the authenticity of it. I know no one can tell for sure until the movement is opened up, but just for the outside how does it look?

what model and year? there are excellent replicas of modern APs, so it may be very hard to tell from just the dial (unless its a hack job).

As you said, the movement is usually a give away, but you can also try to register the watch on AP's website. If you have the serial number and warranty number then the website will confirm if those are at least legitimate. Fake numbers will kick back a "registration failure" and that should tell you all you need to know.

Hard to say.

You could start by taking it to Swisswatchexpo or Crown & Caliber in Atlanta for an estimate. If they offer you anything for it, it's probably real.

Judging by the spelling it’s 100% fake.

Watches found in drawers or given by or inherited from elderly relatives almost always seem to be fake. Especially when the recipient is a first-time poster. I can’t imagine why.

LOL!! so True. I had a family friend bring by two Panerai his uncle left him to authenticate and they were easily identifiable as fakes from the early 2000s.

The scary thing is the new chinese replicas for many pieces, including AP, Panerai et al, are scary good. The dials and cases can now fool many folks, and they've even done a good job of replicating the Panerai P3000 movement. thankfully they haven't got the AP 3125 movement down yet
