Removed diver extension from SD43 - great fit now.

Got my AD to remove the diver’s extension and add a normal link back in, and what a difference!

Strap is now much more comfortable and a better fit all round.

The extension is an amazing piece of kit, if needed, but if not, it is a pain.

Packed away in my safe now, and my watch feels great on my arm.

Done the same! Added half link to have better adjustment range.

I have a Deepsea 126660 and a Sea-Dweller 126600. When I sized the bracelets with my AD, I asked them to remove the dive extension link. Works out to about 2 regular links. It allows both watches to fit beautifully on my wrist. It also makes the functional width of the clasp assembly be a bit shorter and that helps it fit better on me as well. I'm never ever going to need that dive extension link even though it is a neat bit of kit.

Same here. I did mine right off the bad so have no comparison but it is a comfortable fit.

Personally I think removing the extension from a dive watch is like fitting a softer suspension on a Porsche GT3 to make it ride more softly.

I also had the AD remove mine when I purchased it. Makes it wear much nicer and am never ever going to need it.

Do make sure you don’t lose it, as apparently Rolex will not supply or sell replacement extensions.

That right there is funny! I didn’t remove mine, but I can see how it would be more comfortable with out it.

Except the suspension will still help in every day driving. The divers extension does nothing unless you wear a wetsuit.

For the record I removed the extension from both the 126600 and 126660.

This is a pretty common move and likely one I would have done as well. The extension is extremely excessive unless you are wearing a dry suit.

My AD gently refused to remove it when I bought my SD recently, so I did it myself a couple of weeks ago.

It’s no more comfortable for me because it was a perfectly good fit before. However, referencing the photo below, it just looks better without that slab of steel jutting out the end of the already massive clasp. Especially since I have a small wrist the clasp almost dominates the bracelet as it is.

Don’t think the Dweller is any more or less comfortable with the diver extension. Such an internet psychosomatic phenomenon.

Well, good for you.

I personally find it much better, as it has removed a solid lump that effectively makes the clasp almost an inch longer. Having a much more flexible single link in its place without any shadow of a doubt makes it more comfortable to wear.

So there.

My GT3 suspension is adjustable and front axle lift helps me get out of the driveway without scrapes.

Yes, I have a GT3 also. However, the suspension switch is done electrically as opposed to with a teeny screwdriver. I guess I don’t see the benefit of a dive watch, other than for collectors, unless you dive. I imagine you track or drive your GT3 spiritedly. 🙋*♂️

100% agree on the looking better without “the slab!” Clasp looks 100x slicker with a link than that plain big extension

Firstly I do think removing the extension is reasonable if the wearer does not intend on using it. Frankly from an engineering perspective it is one less thing to fail.

However this photo is rather misleading about 'the slab'. It is shown here with the glidelock fully extended. It should be 20mm further inside the clasp.
