IWC Pilots Watch

Hello all,

I'm looking at an IWC Pilot Watch. I've got a guy here locally who's got one for sale. Anything I should look out for when buying a used IWC? The issue I'm having is trying to find a place that can open it up to verify its authenticity. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The model is : IW377701

Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you!

- Daniel

Also look out for micro scratches on the outer AR coating of the sapphire crystal and can only be seen in certain lighting. Once noticed they can be annoying if they are there.

basically, be sure it's genuine, that particular watch, ( along with many other IWC's), is especially well faked. The 79320 is a modified ETA 7750, the fakes have a decorated asian 7750 movement and rotor, so unless the person opening it knows what to look for.....

Is it complete with inner/outer boxes, warrantees, instructions etc ? Is the person selling it for massively less than you could find it from trusted seller ?
I'd also recommend that you look for the bracelet version, they can be found for a fraction more than the leather band one... If ever you decide you want to bracelet later it can really cost you...

Thank you for the tips. It comes with all the paperwork, box, and a warranty card. I was thinking of trying to go back to the place where it was purchased and to verify the serial number on the inside of the watch with the original sales receipt. I've done this with Omega and Rolex at authorized repair facilities to make sure both were genuine. However, here in the San Francisco Bay Area there aren't any, just two dealers. I'm not if they are capable or willing.
