4448 question
New member, first post. I have a Rolex 4448 without "Swiss" or "Swiss Made" on the dial. The S/N is 486---. Is this the standard or possible that dial was painted over ?

Need to see a pic but sometimes the rehaut will cover it up or it could be a repaint.

Thanks Matt. I removed the watch from the case and with a magnifying glass could not see any notations under 6 o'clock that I was looking for. Took some photos, but lacking a close-up lens, they are not very clear. The watch was presented to my grandfather in 1951. He rarely wore it because he had so many others. I have had it since then and never had it repaired, etc. Only cleaned. Runs fine. Was hoping to fetch a nifty price for it, but concerned about the missing "Swiss Made". Can't seem to attach photos here. Have more photos but first have to resize them.

Most likely the dial is repainted. Its a fancy case and most likely a manual wind movement. Not a high dollar piece. It looks like it may possibly be a precious metal case so you have its melt value at least. You would need to pop off the case back to see what movement is in it and whats marked on the inside of the case back.

redial. However, as far as missing "SWISS" ... there are two school of thought - some people believe that no original dial without "SWISS" was ever made. Yet, some people believe that some late 1940s and early 1950s might have original dial with "SWISS". I don't know which camp I belong to, as I have seen some amazing dials on large BBs without "SWISS"
