Calibre 324 SC quick change date and differences in ref 5167/1 vs 5167/1A
Hi all,
I've recently picked up an Aquanaut, Reference 5167/1 with Calibre 324 SC and I have noticed that the quick change date refuses to go backwards. Is this normal in this movement? If for instance I over-set the date I have to quick change through 31 to get back to the previous day. I am not sure if it's normal or if it's time for a service! The papers that came with my watch mark the model as Reference 5167/1, produced in 2008 and sold on January 5, 2009. The watch was born on a bracelet but the seller included the deployant and strap as well. Everything online makes reference to a Reference 5167/1A-001. Are there any differences in these models? Nothing apparent sticks out to me other than my watch has a Geneva seal instead of a Patek Philippe seal as I believe those were introduced in 2009. Thanks in advance! |

Patek instructions are to only adjust forwards.

Thanks! I did not receive the instruction booklet with the watch so I forgot to even look there. I pulled it up online and you are correct. That is very surprising to me... even a $7k GMT Master can quick set both ways.
I guess it really shows the age of the 324 movement. Hopefully something new comes out at Basel. |

Thanks all.
Anyone know the difference between the 5167/1 and 5167/1A-001, if any? I noticed my watch does not have "Swiss Made" on the bottom of the dial at 6:00. After some research it looks like only the earlier produced 5167s excluded this. Given the date of manufacture of my 5167 is 2008 it makes sense. Just opening the wormhole of Patek dial variations reminds me of vintage Rolex a bit. Interesting (and sometimes scary) stuff! |
