5296G- Sector or Non-sector
Hi everyone, a little background. I have a couple of Rolexes and 2 PP (5711, 5146) but I’m planning to sell / flip the 5146 for something simpler as I just couldn’t get along with the adjustments of the complication on the AC.
Anyhow I’ve been a Calatrava owner in the past but now I’ve set my sights on the 5296G. Question is which one? I find both appealing: sector dial for it’s casual and adventurous look- and the non-sector for its clean and elegant look. Any owners of either reference there with any thoughts and wrist shots? Some photos (taken from the web) for perspectives: ![]() ![]() Thanks guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used to favor the 5296G-010 for it's simple and understated elegance and sophistication, however a recent 5296G-001 pic with a brown strap posted on this forum has me rethinking my preference. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Not an owner but if I had to choose then I'd go with the sector dial. Like you said, it's more casual and adventurous but also adds some visual punch and can still be used as a dress watch.

There’s no point in having a sector dial if it isn’t a chronograph.

If I were You I would buy a sector dial...I love my Calatrava 5296r-001 because it can be used for everything and it is really beautiful piece... I think 5296 line is discontinued this year so pick it up if You want to buy from AD's

I have a 10 month old sector and i love it - so many interesting and different shades to the dial color.
I wear it everyday except saturdays and some travel. Had a 21/18 brown shell cordovan but put a matte black 21/16 CF croc on it. Had recently been looking at the -010 and wondering if i made the right decision (not in the metal but just in general) i'm still very happy. (Though there seems to be many many -001 that were made!) I'm a sucker for the sector it was a milestone watch otherwise i might have actually ended up with the JLC. Going to add a Rolex 114270 for travel and saturdays and have everything paired down to just that patek/rolex combo. FA |

In white gold I prefer the sector, but in rose gold, I prefer the non-sector

I'd opt for a 5296 with a sector dial and/or go with a 5196 for a more minimal look.

Non-sector for me as I don't very much like sector dials on modern watches. At the same time the non-sector 5296 is looking very empty given the large size of the dial. I agree w others who see the 5196 as a possible solution. My answer has been 3998P.

Both are great choices; I happened to purchase the sector dial.

I went with the WG sector dial as well. If you pair it with the strap from the 5522 and the buckle, it changes the look, and really dresses it down. The strap is 175 and the buckle is only 125... you cannot go wrong for an extra 300 bucks.
Best of luck on your decision. |

If you do buy straps for it, the strap is 21.4mm wide... so you really need to buy from Patek in order to fill the space between the lugs properly... made the mistake and custom made 3 straps that were 21mm that are useless now.
