Does this look right?

Hey guys - Can you guys confirm this looks right? Never noticed this copper/brass piece. Just wanted to confirm this is how it’s supposed to look. Thanks for the help!

It might be a reflection but the hour and minute wheels are made of brass on all mechanical watches and the hands mount on them. A little bit of brass showing is Ok because hand height is normally smaller than the height of the wheel tube to allow for finer adjustment during mounting.

It’s normal. Posted a thread about this recently asking the same thing. Went to an AD and asked them as well. AD looked up close at the yachtmaster in his case and saw it on that watch as well. I have a submariner bought direct from AD brand new and I have the same brass showing. All good.

It's OK. Just the tiny Rolex mischief makers in there with their flashlights...

I'll just add to the "it's normal" posts. I checked my AD-bought SubC, and I can see the brass. It's not easy to see under normal circumstances, but looks blazingly obvious in spotlit macro shots. Rest easy.

In your first photo, you can actually see the laser etched rolex crown on the sapphire crystal at the 6 o'clock position. That is considered one of the most difficult processes to copy as the tooling and skill required is virtually impossible to replicate. If you are really paranoid, you could always unscrew the case back :P

I'm curious about what appears to be microscratches on the bezel insert. Are those fingerprints or is it actually abraded' I'm assuming it's just grime?

That is the hour wheel, to which the hour hand is applied. It is made of brass.
