A tale of two Explorers.

I’ve coveted the 5 digit 16570 Polar with drilled lugs and SEL’s for several years. Finally found one in mint condition and added it to my small collection a few weeks ago.

And then just today added the 216570 Black Dial version. My initial impression is that these are great timepieces and will be utilized at the office and in the mountains.

As a climber I’ve followed Ed Viesturs and othe explorers. Sure there are the Garmin Fenix’s and other types of watches with altitude, O2 sensors, compass, GPS, etc. There’s just something special about wearing a classic mechanical timepiece that can be handed down to the next generation (rather than tossed or recycled).

Cheers!

Love the five digit Exp II. Sadly for buyers the market for them is becoming just about as hot as it is for five digit Subs.

Congratulations!!!! The black 6 digit Explorer II is my all-time favorite watch. Love the 5 digit Explorer II's as well. I don't feel pictures do them justice. Like all 5 digit sports models, there is a charm about them in person.

Excellent choices and wear them in good health.

Totally agree about the 5 digits. They’re beautiful in-person. Thanks.

I love that matte black black dial but with maxi dial and larger case with a 6.25 wrist cannot pull that off. Congrats on a great watch.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. A bit of good news today on what has been a disappointing Rolex/Tudor Basel day.
