The older movements as you say keep astonishingly good time for an automatic, are bulletproof and beloved of watchmakers come servicing time. No doubt the newer movements have advantages - the biggest bring power reserve, but also greater anti-magnetism - but to say they’re “much better” is a sentiment based on marketing hype as much as anything else.
+1
I’m not going to discredit the power reserve advantage, but it doesn’t make a difference for me since I wear the watch everyday.

All the unsold BLNR on WR are north of $14k and a couple going for $16-17k.

Asking price is not the same as what it actually sells for, but surely the goal post has moved - moved up!

That’s what I thought. Haven’t read of any really huge advantage other than the power reserve. I had a Tudor Pelagos for a few months and didn’t really notice a huge upside to the power reserve. I either wore the watch to frequently or not frequently enough(more than 3 days between wear)

I wouldn't buy one for more than £1000 over retail, which I think is strong money for something in demand.

You must be nuts paying that much for a basic modern SS watch. Absolutely bonkers

Part of me hopes they satisfy demand and the grey price drops like a stone. Although I would feel the genuine enthusiast who paid silly money because they had to have one.

These threads are getting sickening at worst, boring at best.

Can’t think why £15k is a good deal when there are about 30 on Chrono 24 between £11-13k
Someone tell me what I am missing? Is it the stickers?

Good buy? Is this happening. A good buy would be 10% off retail or at least retail. A 5 grand premium no thank you.

Yes, it’s the stickers. Though some Central London resellers don’t pay the rent buy offering competitive prices.

Seems a big premium if you’re going to wear the watch and scratch it up anyway.

DavidSW still has not posted any more Batmans for sale. I guess he is carefully weighing the market. Will be interesting to see where the final price ends up.

The original batman has quickly cemented itself in rolex history because of first multicolored ceramic bezel, new color combo on GMT, steel GMT on oyster which they are fading out to jubilee except on PM. Collector’s item for sure and I plan on keeping mine irrespective of market value.
