The red Subs were depicted in the owner's booklet until the 1680 was discontinued in 1980, so the ad with a red Sub doesn't prove they were being manufactured as late as that ad.

X2. Metres first dial on a 5.7m serial is not original. Sorry. I’m sure this happened a lot back in the day when there was a problem and watchmakers had stashes if dials and other parts hanging around the bench. There was nothing special about a red dial back then.

That meters first dial is not original to the watch but worth a good bit more money than that other franken mark 4 dial....essentially both are incorrect watches but the dials are worth some money...especially the meters first...but there’s no way in hell either of those watches were originally equipped with those dials
