I'd say let the Sub go. It's the easiest to replace.

Sit tight. You have two great watches and the Daytona-C will only come down in price and availability will go up with time.

Probably a good question to have asked 2 weeks ago...
Does anyone keep and collect watches anymore? It’s all about the quest for the next one I guess.

You have two great watches. As many have said, and many have experienced, keep what you have or you'll regret it and could even find yourself rebuying the same pieces.

I actually thought about doing the same thing as OP but just couldn’t bring myself to pay grey prices for a Daytona..

which to dispose for a daytona? Sub date or BLNR?
I’m not complaining about Daytona pricing because I have one at MsRP (and it’s $10000 in RSA converted), but surely if I can get one anyone else could with patience?

Your AD got you a stainless Sub, that means you're probably on their good side (i.e. perhaps the Daytona wait wouldn't be as long as you fear).
At the very least, I would call them, tell them you have the slightest bit of "buyer's remorse" after seeing the Daytona C, ask to be put on the wait list, and assure them you want to trade up through them (as opposed to being seen one who just buys SS sport watches to flip them). They'll probably appreciate that (and the fact that they can sell your Sub at above retail since it's used). |

I'd get rid of the BLNR, with the current mkt price it'll help more with the Daytona purchase, also if you keep the Sub you'll have one brushed and one with PCL's.
You can add the new BLNR later or even better a BLRO. |

I know you tried the Daytona on but it seems to me you are trying to rush your decision. (Similar to the impulse buy of Sub when offered one).
There is nothing wrong with trading away a watch (Sub would be my choose in your case) or paying a premium for something you truly want. It comes down to how many watches you want in general. If only want a 2 watch collection, etc. then stick to it. This notion of keep the 2,3,4, etc. and add another only works if the invidual wants to accumulate a bunch of watches or he/she is financially able to. There probably isn’t an AD that offers a waitlist and nowadays most ADs are looking for individuals to spend more and typically buying models they don’t want. Based on what the OP said, he can’t afford to. That essentially sums it up... what exactly is he waiting for? For prices of the Daytona to go down (sure its possible*?) or a miracle where an AD randomly calls him to say there is one just sitting there for him? I say, sit on it. Be patient on your decision making (not that wait and pray stuff). Hold off a couple weeks or month before deciding if it is truly the watch you want. I went about it several months if not a year thinking about the Daytona. Then another year trying to better my AD position to get the watch. At the end it turned out impossible (for me) to acquire locally via an AD so I bit the bullet and did a deal via a trusted seller. No regrets. |

If I was you, I wouldn't have bought the Sub if I wanted a Daytona and needed to flip the Sub so quickly. Daytonas are great, but you'll miss your Sub imo if you really do actually like that watch.

As much as love the Daytona, I would not do it, also refuse to pay the crazy premium for the 500c.
