The age-old question. I searched, waited, searched some more, and bought what I liked. Maybe New England is just a better area to buy, but can't say I've been in the game that long.

It’s not illegal. No business is obliged to sell you anything. They set the terms.

newbies and amateur complain to Rolex.

You should buy a Casio or Seiko.

That's not very nice.
Man's first post - he's obviously not well-versed in today's realities.

I’d like to see what happens if a minority records a turn down and on same recording sees white VIP walk in and get it no problem what would ensue.

After a year and a half. Were buying conditions different back in late 2017?

May not be illegal, but that does not make it right - or the proper way to run a business, either.

That sounds like discrimination against personal wealth and previous buying habits. But probably not illigal

Distasteful but not illegal. Just the state of market conditions these days.

I was answering the question posed.

Whether it’s right or wrong is subjective.

I can see the business sense in bundling. It’s a money-maker in the short to medium term. The question is, in the long run, assuming that one day the bubble bursts, will keeping a small number of wealthy customers happy at the expense of annoying a larger number of potential customers prove to be a mistake? Who knows?

Congrats on your first post and welcome to the forum!

You state that a walk in customer is told no sport models are available, whereas a VIP customer will have access to a sport model. That's basically what the purchase condition you were given amounts to. The VIP customer has already purchased another model. You're getting the same opportunity to be a VIP customer. No, it's not illegal for a private business to set up conditions on purchases. For Rolex professional models, it is a seller's market. Don't be discouraged and good luck with your search!

Normal? No.

Illegal? No idea about your country.

As far as complaining to Rolex, you could try contacting Rolex SA in Geneva

Agreed.

Take this opportunity to look at other brands that make beautiful and in some cases better watches.

Particularly because the guy is from Thailand where people are truly so polite and courteous. There are soooo many sarcastic trolls saying sarcastic and rude things to others on this site, I am sure some think I was insincere. Not true.

What the heck?

That’s quite rude on your part. Guy is asking for advice because the situation seems sketchy, and it is sketchy.

Newbies and amateur?

What are you?

A Rolex Pro??

Sheesh.
