OP for me. I had a blue dial that I moved for a dj41 (I wanted a date) I may add another back though. Such a simple yet great piece, IMO

Thanks for all of the feedback gents. I think I've decided to go with the Explorer. I'm going to pick it up at my local AD next month for my 46th birthday. It's my son's favorite model. I'm going to start looking for a clean F serial 114270 for him. I'm not sure when I'll give it to him, but the prices seem to be on the rise. I may as well get it and hang on to it for him. I think that could be a fantastic one and only for him....unless he catches the watch bug from me.

I'm thinking between an Explorer and a white dial 39mm Oyster Perpetual. The white OP is obviously a nice contrast to my black Explorer II. My two worries are:

1. No EZ Link extension. I use the EZ Link on my Explorer II every day.
2. I see a million of them for sale. It kind of worries me that so many of these are being flipped in short order.

My only concern with the Explorer is it's somewhat similar to my Explorer II; black dial, Mercedes hour hand, brushed oyster bracelet. Otherwise the Explorer is as clean and classic as it gets.

Cost isn't a consideration since they are pretty close. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated! Pics if you have them.

Thanks so much!

Mike
Explorer 1 . Then you get a combo meal deal explorer 1 and 2.

It isn’t close. OP39 screams barely Rolex.

Man I absolutely love the Milgauss line in general, and the Z Blue in particular. I had a white Milgauss but it is residing with my twin brother at the moment, so I have access to it from time to time. It's just not quite what I'm looking for at the moment. I'm looking for a little smaller weekender type watch.

But it's definitely one I would be very interested in at some point.

For me the real difference is the Coronet at 12 on the OP. When you look at it closely I just love that applied Coronet. OP can take you from hanging out to dinner with the Mrs. and not skip a beat. Now don't get me wrong so can the exp. But something about the OP says laid back luxury with a short sleeve and dignified gentleman with button up.

No worries! One of the best all-time watches. I'll always have a soft spot for the white Milgauss as it was my first ever Rolex!

Thanks so much Pauln! I feel great about it. I'll follow up with some pics when I pick it up. It's amazingly hard picking which Rolex to get because there are so many solid choices, but when you do finally make a decision it's exciting.

Well done on making your difficult choice.
I have the Explorer and really love the watch. It is so comfortable and I really think the Easylink is a great feature that I use often.

Incidentally, I have had some serious deliberations over the OP 39 white.
It is a beautiful watch, and would like to have one in the future, but as an addition, not to replace the Explorer.
Looking forward to seeing a pic of the new Explorer.

The explorer ii is already a casual enough watch so you might consider something different. The op39 in my view would be exactly that.
+1

Pretty decent collection with the sea dwellers, bluesy, and chnr. Honestly I’d still pick the Explorer. The only reason I’d even consider the Milgauss is because of the possible discontinuation and or redesign in the future.. Other than that I do not like them.. Its a old mans model lol sorry guys

Have I mentioned that before I parted with my LN, I had the exact same duo as you?

I was a little surprised how many cool watches they had at the AD today too. I've got about about three weeks until my birthday, so I have some time to think about what I'm going to get next.

Grab that AirKing in the background!!

Not trying to highjack, but you mentioned "different" and boom! that's different... :-)

...but I may be partial to the homage it gives back to aviation. :-)

I do really like the Air-King. They actually had two of them in the case!
