DeepSea Question

Hello All,

I have a deep sea black and thinking about deep sea blue.

I am wondering though if this makes sense or not. Any one got both?

On another fold, do any one knows of any AD will offer the blue deep sea with good discount like that on the black? Any help or guide will be appreciated even by private message.

Thank you all.

On your first question only you can decide if it makes sense to you. Doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

As for a discount. Almost certainly not happening. Unless you have racked up some serious (serious) spending with the same store and they throw you a gesture. They can sell every Deep Sea blue multiple times over, no end of people desperate to pay rrp.

There's a couple of guys on here that have both but like Scott said, that's entirely up to you.
I seriously doubt you can expect any discount whatsoever.

Yes I have got both, am actually on my second deepsea after selling my first for Panerai (not my best move)...For me the Deepsea gets the most wrist time out of all my watches. As the JC..I think its a bit of gimmick watch not a fan of the dial

I have both and IMO it certainly made enough sense once I saw the dial in the flesh and had them side by side.
My then fiance was hooked as well
Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the matte black dial(116660 MK II) for aesthetic and practical reasons as it's probably the most compelling aspects of the watch. Especially when viewing it through that lusciously thick curved crystal.

In the past I have owned the same Rolex watch reference with both coloured of dial variants for some variety in the collection. So I'm no stranger to the concept and all practical realities.

The black is essentially my daily wearer with the D-blue(also a 116660) reserved for special occasions or when I'm feeling in the mood as it holds extra special status in my collection.
Also in line with the principal of keeping things simple as possible they're both the same reference, there is no issue with the adjustment to a different feel on the wrist in keeping with the same reference which is a personal requirement. This may be something for you to consider on a number of different levels now that the 126660 is out.

Let us know how you go?

I’ve always liked the black dial more. Was able to choose between the black and blue dials when bought mine and went with black. Has to be what you like more. Improvements on the 126660 are nice.

I would argue the changes to the watch brought about by the introduction of the 126660, may not necessarily be universally labeled as improvements.
Updates yes, but improvements no. IMO.

As much as I LOVE the Deepsea construction and uniqueness, I would only have one of the variant. Naturally the D Blue is my choice and possession but that is only my two cents.

If you can go and check one out, I’d highly recommend it. The dial is what makes that reference for me

Thank you all ... so with having the deep sea black ... is it better to get the deep sea blue or the SD43 with the red ... I know it is personal preference but would like to get your thoughts?

Had the older black DSSD and now the updated JC. I MUCH prefer the dial on the JC. Dial aside comparing the old version to the updated version the new one has much better proportions and is much more comfortable to wear/less top heavy. Upgraded movement is a plus too.

When the blue dial came out I just bought my black one. I wanted to change it as well.

Glad I didn't, the black dial just fits and is in perfect balance with this beautifully engineered watch.
On the blue dial is just a bit too much going on imho.

If you do feel the need to change forget about a discount, the blue is in high demand

I was in my local AD recently and they had both in inventory. I was surprised how different they looked. If you really like a particular model I think having it in multiple colors is a great idea.

I would not expect a discount on the JC model.

I LOVE D-Blue, but i’d NEVER had it without having a Black Rolex diver first. And... Black Deepsea is really special, one isn’t ‘the other color’ of the other.

Wow, that's Surprising to see that they actually had them. More surprising that they were actually in the case for sale. I haven't seen them in any AD's case in a long time. Where/which AD was that?

I have both and the SD43. The difference between the black and blue dials are quite substantial in real live. I have not seen the 126660 in the flesh yet, but I like the "originals". Depending on wrist size the SD43 might be more comfortable.

When I was purchasing my DS Blue it was not even a question to get a different color dial, the blue looks so gorgeous. If you will switch you would enjoy the watch way more in my opinion. I am not sure you will get a discount, my AD didn't give me any for example.

I see no point in having both. If you like the JC, flip the black for it.

I have both, a 2015 D-Blue and a 2017 NOS black dial. They're both stunning, but much prefer the blue. I also quite like blue so probably a bit biased.

In low light it doesn't even look very blue. In other lights it just pops. I'm also partial to the 116660. It has less blue than the 126660.

I have a SubC and a SD43 (very similar diver watches) and my next is a DSSD black or blue, is crazy but I love divers watches, buy it both if you like them too much.

Agree 100% the 116660 blue ends and black begins around 3 and 9. Where the 126660 the blue extends past 3 and 9 and begins the fade to black a little above 4 and 8.

I had a 126660 D Blue and swopped it with my Brother in Law for his Gold Sub, biggest mistake I ever made. If I could find another D Blue I'd have it in a heartbeat.

I don't think you would get a discount on the D Blue or Black right now. You may get lucky finding a black at full msrp.
