16610LV Flat 4 Bezel

Hi guys,

I took a stab at this 16610LV Flat 4 bezel on the 'bay last week and it arrived today. I did some research prior to bidding and it looks OK to me, but I am no expert.

What are your thoughts?

Sorry about the potato photos. Thanks in advance

Its a scratched insert hope you did not pay crazy money for it, as replaced inserts from the RSC are mostly flat four fonts, but a slightly different green colour that can be aged quite easy.

I am curious how many of these new service flat fours are out there. I have seen only one or two documented. If this is the case I would expect to see a flood of them on the secondary market which I haven’t seen either.

16610LV Flat 4 Bezel

A flat 4 bezel in isolation is not something that will make a 16610lv more desirable or valuable.

The bezel has to be correct for the year of manufacture.

An early example that was originally supplied with a flat 4 will also have an oval O in the word Rolex on the dial and ‘Swiss Made’ will be over the 28 to 32 ticks at 6 o’clock.

The letter prefix in the serial number also needs to be year correct to 2004 or poss into 2005.

Just sticking a flat 4 bezel on any old16610lv will actually devalue it to serious collectors or any one who has the slightest idea of what they are looking at.

But alone they are worth alot on the secondary market and are sold quickly. I've seen them listed between $3-$4K USD just for the insert.

The oppty to make money if they were readily available via RSC would be to sell them separately, but as another poster mentioned, we don't see a glut on the open market, therefore probably not as readily available via the RSC.

I think RSC would only replace parts (including bezel) that were correct for the year the watch was manufactured.

So if the watch wasn’t originally issued with a flat 4 bezel, they wouldn’t put one on just because the customer asked for it.
