Rolex servicing under warranty

Is the cost of servicing a Rolex much cheaper or ‘free’ when it’s under warranty?

the watch seems to wind up a little slow on the first few winds. Ie I prefer to manually wind it up 10-20 turns first as the rotor doesn’t seem to wind up well the first few swings

other than that there’s a few used scratches as expected

should the service be free? Or should I expect some cost

It’s a 2015 Daytona with a 5 year warranty

The warranty only covers faults, if it's a fault it will be free if it's fine you will pay for the service

and if I end up paying for service. is it cheaper to service under warranty or not? I've heard heresy on both so just wanted to ask the knowledge here!

If you want to pay for a service when there is nothing wrong with your watch you are free to do so. People do this every day so you are not alone. Rolex is however not going to pay for anything unless there is something actually wrong with your watch.

Wind it 30-40 times before wearing it.

Scratches are normal and not a warranty item.

The warranty is for mechanical faults and not any sort of scratch service, and to fully manually wind your Daytona because it has a greater power reserve it would need around 60 full turns clockwise only.

I wasn't expecting the scratches to be attended to under warranty, in fact I don't want to.

I think there's something wrong with the way it winds up from no power reserve as the rotor certainly doesn't seem to wind it up for the first few swings. i.e. I give it a few good shakes and it runs for 30 seconds then stops.

My older 116520 that's out of warranty seems to not have this issue so I have a comparison.

You should always manually wind do not shake it, and just because you are wearing it does not mean you are winding it.Its wrist activity that winds the movement and if it stops a few shakes it will only run for a few seconds. So manually wind it via the winding crown thats what its for.But to fully wind it will need at least 60 full crown turns clock wise only.
