First Time Buyer DJ41 126333 - NYC?

Hi All -

New to the forum and reading up on the DJ41 126333 (still lots of catching up to do). I'm in the NYC market and looking to get my first Rolex - I actually haven't worn a watch in 15+ years. This particular piece has just been something I've wanted since my younger years (mid 30s now) - so it's definitely more for nostalgia. Curious to know if the price on the Rolex site is what I should be paying, or if there is generally a discount at the AD's? ($12,700)

Looking for the DJ41, 2 toned, jubliee, fluted, champagne dial...

Also, less of a concern - but more curious, would this model retain value?

Apologies if been asked a bunch of times. Thanks in advanced!

I think you should target about 10% off for that watch- if you look around at enough places, you should find one. It is not going to retain it's value like a Sub for instance, that's why it's important to get some discount off of retail (that's how it evens out).
The TT fluted DJ is a classic- you can keep that watch a lifetime.

you can probably get a 10% discount but not in nyc. you'd have to go to NJ or the suburbs for that although it doesn't hurt to try in nyc with all the ADs here. some of them also offer 0% financing if you're into that

it won't hold value too well, generally datejusts are the worst in terms of value retention

Best wishes on your watch purchase. I'm sure you'll be happy with it for many years. The model you've described is a beautiful classic choice.

Fortunately, it shouldn't be too hard for you to source that particular watch with checking in with your local Rolex dealers. If the watch is in the display case, be ready to buy, and offer to buy right then. Ask for a 10% discount to seal the deal right then and there. Asking for 10% off for an in stock item is not being greedy and the dealer gets to move stock. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

If you are willing to buy from a "gray" dealer (not a Rolex AD) new DJ41s are available for around $11,000. And, you avoid sales tax. The model you are wanting is beautiful. I have the same but with white dial.

Thank you guys for the replies - it definitely helps with setting the benchmark! I figured this would be a keeper piece being my first and having that childhood connection. Much appreciated gentlemen!

I still need to do some reading on the grey market... my initial thought was AD to ensure authenticity (at least from easing the mind perspective), but will definitely explore options. Thanks!

Good luck finding a nice price. I have the same watch. DJ41, TT, Jubilee, Champagne.

I love it, it's perfect for me.

Buy it right and enjoy. I applaud you for buying something you have wanted for a long time and not just going after a highly sought after piece.

I’m in south Florida. One of my clients owns a store in the aventura area. I purchased a DateJust 41 , black dial , fluted bezel, oyster braclet. Brand new, stickers and all, 8300$ no tax. If you look, it’s out there. I don’t think the matter of retaining value is as big as getting it for a good price as to not lose much down the road. Good luck

Wow! That's a great price! I would close the deal right then and there and not look back if I came across that price for my config! It's encouraging! haha

One of the keys and a relatively hard part is sourcing it from another state and have it mailed to you to save the high NY sales tax. Do a search here for "trusted seller" and you will find 4 or 5 that will get you BNIB watches by mail maybe even with a slight discount.

Buying in NY would not be ideal. However Hamilton Jewelers in Princeton Nj were solid as was Lux Bond Green in CT and Boston.

You’ll love the watch! Just hurry up and get it! You will not regret it!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I do a bit of traveling for work too, so I'll also research a possible purchase in the EU or Asia to see if that makes a difference.
