For those who have watches scheduled on their home owners ins., what do you use as an acceptable appraisal valuation for discontinued pieces that have increase in value? I have the old BLNR and a COKE and want to insure them for the replacement cost (double what they are insured for now) Obviously these would need to be purchased on a secondary market. Will an AD give a replacement value on a model they no longer carry?

Someone here recommended ValueMyStuff.com to me and it came in on par with the estimates from the guys here on RF with the values on a vintage Rolex President and a Submariner 30th F Series. Also depends on what home insurance company you use and what their requirements are.

Do you have an independent insurance agent?

I had to find an independant watch shop to get market appraisal value for my watches.

I would work with a recommended appraiser in your area to assess the current value of the watch. I went to my AD and they were able to get me an appraisal for my Tudor Sub.

My DD is insured for full replacement. Costs me about $400/yr.
