Traveling w/2 Watches
I find it stressful when traveling with two Rolex watches.
This weekend I went to the Kentucky Derby with my Sky Dweller but had a Submariner packed for work a day later. It was stressful leaving it in my backpack or hotel room unattended. What saggy precautions do you take when traveling with multiple watches? I prove won’t pack 2 watches ever again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I use the hotel safe when I go on hols. If there is no safe available, I won’t take any more than one. My watches are only insured if in safe when not worn.

Insurance makes it easier. I don’t leave it in the backpack tho, that sounds scary. There’s hotel safe and then the front desk safe if you want. No different than bringing cash. [edit] also depends what I’m doing obviously. Just went to Disney world again but exclusively this time. Didn’t bring anything else but my panerai. Normal FL trips I bring 2-3 watches since I stay for 7+ days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can't for the life of me understand why people *need* their expensive watches on vacation. Time is time whether it's displayed on a Rolex, Timex or cell phone. Sure, I miss my watches when not wearing them, but at least I know in a short time, I'll be in 'watch nirvana' again. That beats a hospital, Police station or morgue. To those that do, by all means do so and enjoy it. To not wear a Rolex (or similar) is a disservice. Watches *are* made to be worn. As you can tell: I'm a very confused, but well meaning person. I only bring the watch on my wrist when travelling. Also for some reasons, I don't trust the hotel room safe.

I would only travel with the watch on my wrist. I don't trust hotel safes (I remember reading somewhere that they can be opened with a master code by the staff).

If you are going to put the watch in your safe then put the Do Not Disturb sign up. Try also to leave the hotel unnoticed by the cleaning staff so they dont know whether you're in or not.
Upon DND sign they never enter or even knock. I can leave it on for days - Dont necessarily need my room cleaned or my bed made if I got 100K in watches in my safe. |

I would feel uncomfortable, leaving my watch in a hotel, even when they safes in the room , so would probably go with the watch on my wrist only.

Also not comfortable with a non-worn watch in a hotel safe - they are easily opened... and can’t be bothered with the checking them in/out at reception.
IMO no need to have more than the watch on your wrist on holiday - which doesn’t come off unless I’m showering in which case my family are in the room (even that is optional) |

I usually only travel with 1 watch only for this EXACT reason.
Holiday is meant to be stress free. Not worrying about if the cleaner has the master key to your safe. LOL |

Traveling w/2 Watches
My wife and I travel a lot - and I always carry 3 watches with me - not just Rolex all the time - but other manufacturers mix as well sometimes. Why? Because I want to - and I enjoy changing them up just like I do when I’m home.
If I was paranoid about wearing my watches whenever and wherever I was - personally, I’d rather not own them. Period. All of my watches are 100% insured - all stay locked up when I’m not wearing, home or on vacation. No issue. Same thing with my wife’s jewelry. A little situational awareness - and you’ll be fine. I have my own weird rules when traveling with timepieces...
In general, I take only my 14060m when I travel for work. It goes with everything and flies under the radar. When traveling in the US for pleasure with the family. I only take my SD43. It is my favorite everyday watch. If traveling to a resort out of the country (Caribbean or Mexico), I wear my GShock during commute with my SD43 in my carry on computer bag in an Oakley watch vault. At the resort I switch and wear the SD43 all day even to sleep and leave the GShock in the hotel safe with the passports, computer, phones and cash. If traveling to a formal event I will take a dress watch (heirloom vintage piece) and keep it in the hotel safe when not in use but generally wear my SD43 during most of my stay. As Mentioned, on the rare occasion my rolex is in the hotel safe and I'm not in the room, I do hang a DND sign on the door. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Insurance. I don’t even think about the other watch in my backpack. Though lately I travel with one. |

I never travel with more than one watch. I don't need the stress. Lately I take the Tudor and leave the Rolex home for additional lack-of-stress

I agree! I am fine having one for a trip, makes the lack of stress and worry with it and also gives that watch some fine memories in the process.

“That beats a hospital, police station, or morgue” Well said! But, I think there can be a balance here - depending on where you’re traveling - just bring one, wear it all the time, and be cautious/aware of your surroundings. Enjoy! |

I generally travel with two, depending on where I am going. For a business trip that is going to be at least a week, will carry my AP Royal Oak (I usually travel to SE Asia where it is hot and humid) for business and my GMT or Submariner for evening out. I generally believe that situational awareness is critical (not just for you knowing what’s going on around you but also showing others that you know what’s owing on around you).
I keep my other watch in the hotel safe and have never had any issue. Good idea to keep the DND sign on when leaving watches in the safe though. My first business trip that I took to Switzerland, I also got a tour of AP manufacture in Le Brassus as well as the VC and Patek museums in Geneva so ended up taking my Patek AC and Patrimony as well as Rolex 16710 as the beater. In hindsight, probably not the wisest decision to bring all of those watches. But I did enjoy having the watches there with me. We do buy these watches to wear and enjoy though so I’d rather not buy them if I am going to constantly worry about wearing them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was in the same boat as you. I went to the Kentucky Derby.....unbelievable finish.....and I brought two watches. I wore my Grand Seiko GMT on Alligator strap and left my 16710 Pepsi zipped up in my luggage with the DND sign on the door. No problems at all.
I travel for a living and have never had an issue with hotel theft. I know it happens but it is pretty rare. Remember, with digital keys on the hotel doors now, the hotel staff can tell exactly who's key opened the door and when. They also have cameras in the hallways showing who went in and out. Just don't stay at crappy hotels and you should be fine. |

One watch is plenty, personally I never saw the need for bringing multiple watches on a trip. Not worth the stress or time trying to figure it out. Have a rotation if you want for trips. Also, if you have a watch with a second time zone feature why not wear that?

Just travel with one watch, I prefer to put it on NATO strap to make it look ugly and cheap when I go to more dodgy places.

I always travel with one nice watch, never more though.
I always feel safest with the watch on my wrist, even safer than the hotel safe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I travel with just one watch. On vacation, the last thing I want to think about is the security for a watch I'm not wearing. Just not worth it, so the BLRO travels alone and is always on my wrist. And a vacation is what, a week? Maybe two? I can deal with a single watch for that long. Heck, I've even taken a week's vacation with just my G-Shock. Craze, right?

I travel with 2 or 3 watches. They’re insured and I don’t worry about it.
