PAM 233 being discontinued?
Panerai Boutique in Dallas told me the PAM 233 is being discontinued? Has anyone else heard of this?

It’s very interesting...the T Series was supposed to be the last series, but there is now a production of U series, which was very surprising to me and the team at the NYC boutique. In fact, as of last week, the NYC boutique was carrying number 1 of 700 (I believe) for the U series. It was extraordinary to see that OP released a #1 PAM without offering it to VIPs. So I am not sure whether OP will produce all of their allotted U series, but they have made at least one!

PAM 233 being discontinued?
Time for you to head back uptown and get that #1 U series! Thanks for the update.

I believe rumors of the 233 being discountinued have been around for years... It’s one of the most popular PAMs, would be interesting to see what its replacement would be.
For me - keep everything the same, but make it 47mm. I’d be the first one to line up for that. My only gripe with my 233 is that it’s “only” 44mm.. |

47mm would be interesting.
Not sure I have the wrist size to pull it off. My wrist is 6.75” w/h flat top. Would you have it all polished or brushed still? My ideal 233 would be all polished and blue dial. Quote:

I literally wouldn’t change anything. 233 hits all the boxes for me (useful complication, brushed case, silver hands, regular non-patina lume, dome crystal). But would love a 47mm version...

If only they make 233 still in 44mm with titanium case, gold or blue hands and black or charcoal dial while maintaining the standard "tooth paste" lume...and to top it off please move the PR to the back ala 346 or 368...

Thanks. Is there currently a hand wound 10 day movement from Panerai? |

Probably they'll "upgrade" 233 with patina lume like what happened when they discontinued 270 and change it to 533
Still, there are plenty of 233 around, they went as low as 6k usd in secondary market, now I see some of them asking around 7k which is still a good value for what you get |

pretty certain that only only 10 day movements made by Panerai are auto; though there have been cases over the years of people saying their 8 day manual wind can last 9 to 10 days.. Presume both the auto 10 day and manual 8 day use a triple-barrel system?

I can testify that P2002 can last 10 days,I have both 339 and 368 and both are giving me 249 and 247 hrs and 45 minutes of PR
However,I don't know how long will the standard P2002 with all the complications last....as both of mine are the non-complications model |

The PAM233 is pretty iconic and one of the most popular Panerai models. I have no idea if Panerai plans to discontinue this model. Ordinarily I'd be skeptical of such a claim, but with the way Panerai has added blue seconds hands to almost everything in the Luminor 1950 lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if the brand changed the model slightly and gave it a new reference number.
I think this would be a huge mistake. The 233 is perfect as is and if anything should be a direction the brand heads back towards. It has a great movement that works well beyond 8 days, has several useful complications, and is extremely well executed (sandwich dial, domed crystal). The 233 is almost unlike any of the other 44mm Luminor 1950 cases. I can't explain it. Maybe it's the crystal but the case just looks wider and flatter. Whenever I see it in the display case next to other Luminor 1950s, it just looks completely different and I can't explain why. |

hi,
assuming the perception is mainly due to the case proportions. because it houses a manual movement rather than the auto, the case is marginally slimmer, as the movement doesn't need space for a rotor. would be a real pity for them to discontinue it, but my guess would be it gets reintroduced with a slight variance (no domed crystal, which was the long-standing rumor) under a new reference #. |

I feel that the dome “makes” the PAM 233. For me, the PAM 233 checks all the boxes for me. Not sure how I feel if the PAM 233 comes with a flat crystal. |

the watch won't be the same without it; if they take away that feature, I'm hopeful that 233 values will increase a bit, or at least become more stable |

the 233 and 270 are iconic for their movement AND dome crystal. Take away the dome and the watch loses its charm IMO.

233 and 270 without a dome is like a 321....busy with many complications but forgettable....
These past few years I'm interested in fiddy case because of the dome and the comfort despite being 47mm which might scare people away |

I found myself wearing the 233 More on the weekends than at work so o decided to change out my 233 for the 368 since I really didn’t need the date and I can put the PR indicator on the back. When I see the 233 dot photo above; it makes me miss mine . |

If anyone at OP is seriously considering discontinuing the 233, he/she needs their head looking at.
