However, I stand by my statement that asking prices do not reflect actual selling prices, if they even do sell.

How easy would it be for me to list a BNIB for sale, and then update it later with a "SOLD!" banner, and then several days later list yet another BNIB for sale at an even higher price? These days with everyone hiding serial numbers, who would know if it wasn't the same watch? Heck, if I were really trying to deceive, the pictures could be different as well.

When I saw the post about the $23.8k one being sold I jokingly said the exact same thing, but honestly it is unlikely. I think for the most part the large grey market dealers are mostly honest. Otherwise they wouldn’t have survived this long. They don’t need to play games to make good profits right now.

Any theories as to why? The number for sale has remained constant

You more interested in the price or the reference itself?

Both. I'm on the waitlist at my AD but would be tempted to go Grey if they dropped to circa $12k...

I do really wonder how much of this internet advertised selling and "SOLD" web pages are for real, or just a ruse by the greys to hype up the price.

More for any fool stupid enough to pay these prices for these watches. They're simply not worth that kind of money in any market.

It’s hard to understand what your argument/gripe is.

Anyone who buys a watch at the market price is a fool... but there are not a lot of fools. But there are clearly enough to set the market which is why it’s the market price. But the watch isn’t worth this much money in any market... except that’s exactly what a market price is - the group’s determination of value.

Can we just stop criticizing each other’s preferences? Your opinion is the price is too high for a GMT right now. Cool, don’t buy one. I’m going to enjoy my watch. I’m not going to try to convince anyone else it is worth it, and I’m not going to criticize you for not buying it. The watch is worth what people will pay for it and people are willing to pay quite a lot right now. It’s not right or wrong, it’s just a fact.

Thread after thread of this stuff - can’t we just talk about watches?
