Winding Problem

Hi guys, as you may know from my incoming thread, I Newley bought a PAM1312.I love wearing it and it’s been on my wrist non stop. However, I have noticed that whenever I leave it overnight it stops. I know this watch should have a 3 day reserve but there might be a problem. I wind it, clockwise at level 0 of the crown for about 25 turns. It works but when I take it off my wrist overnight, the next morning I see the time is wrong (still stuck probably a few hours after I take it off).

Am I missing something here or should I take it in for a check up?

Try winding it for around 40 or more times.

I own a 690 and from a dead stop I can give it close to 100 winds before the crown stops. It has a P 3000 3 day power reserve and runs pretty close to that on a full wind.

I’d say try winding it as many turns as you can before it stops ... go slow toward the end when you feel the tension building to a stop.

My guess is you’re just winding it enough to give it a days worth of power

Yes, 25 turns isn't enough. If it doesn't have a power reserve, then wind it till you hit a hard stop

After wearing a full day and still stops after resting overnight..something is not right.
Go have it checked.

I wound it more than 150 times and didn’t hit a hard stop.

I will see tomorrow morning what happens. If still going then good if not, I am taking it to Panerai Boutique.

Hi Brian. This is a new movement, P.9010 developed by Panerai. Maybe it doesn't have the same characteristics. No matter how many times I wind it, it never stops winding.

Wind it till the end. When you feel resistance stop.

That’s an automatic movement so it must have a slip clutch a like Rolex....

I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be holding the power reserve, so I guess a service is required.

Yea, my PAM01321 takes about 55-65 winds, but that gets it to 3-day power reserve on the dial and it is down a bit in the am, on the reserve gauge, but still running strong. Take her in fo sho...

As has been said....

The 690 is a manual watch and has a winding 'stop'.

The OP's is an automatic and has a slip mainspring.

The OP's watch is winding as he wears it and he is giving it a 25 manual wind top up. It should run for longer.

I wound the watch more than 100 times yesterday before I wore it. I took it off when I came back home and it has been aprox. 19 hours off my wrist and so far its still going! I will not wear it till tomorrow, if it is still running by then, this would mean the reason for not lasting was not winding it enough and there is nothing wrong with the watch.

Ok, 2 days plus and it’s still working. I guess it was a number of winds issue.

Yeah, the crown guard gets in the way of fast winding. Have to do a ton of micro turns as a result or just wear it more.
