Bought my wife a DJ for her 30th brand new from AD. Twice now she has told me she checked the time and it was off by 5-6 minutes. At first I thought maybe the watch just stopped and she didn't notice but that doesn't make much sense. Has this happened to any1 before and does this make any sense from a mechanical standpoint? I feel like if it was losing or gaining time it wouldn't just suddenly jump 5 minutes right?

You've found a hole in the space-time continuum. Don't tell Rolex. They'll take the DJ back, slather it in WG & sell it back to you for $30k & a year's waitlist.

Stop using the cell phone or computer to check a mechanical time piece. Digital devices update, depending on the signal, mechanicals never do.

I feel like it is possible that the power reserve ran down at some point while she was wearing it, and the watch stopped. Then it started again after she moved around a bit. She should reset it, give it a full wind, and see what happens.

Give the watch crown a full 40+ turns and then set to the exact time on TRF or a good quality quartz watch then wear it for at least 8 hrs a day and only check the time once a day with the source you used to set it with and don’t use your cell phone, five mins a day is a lot to be off.

If it’s a brand new DJ it should be up to the new Rolex standard of -/+ 2 SPD but even the old standard of -4/+6 SPD is acceptable to some, my DJII currently runs at +3/4 SPD, if it truly is running off by 5 mins a day it’s time to visit the AD that sold you the watch

Yeah thanks guys I tend to agree. I just didn't know if stopping while on the wrist was possible but it makes the most sense.

Yes, it might make sense to ask her to give a wind every day or two days as well. Is she wearing it loosely? Her wrist motion may not be enough to keep it going.

It's a mechanical watch and not digital so never compare with other digital devices.

I wind mine once in a while, mainly because of it losing time.
