Give it a little time, as it looks great on your wrist in the pic.

To me, it is the perfect modern Rolex. The tapered lugs, the date window without cyclops, the fully marked bezel, the addition of the glide lock clasp, and the matte dial just embodies what Rolex set out to deliver - a functional, purpose-driven, no compromise evolution of the purest diver they make.

Congratulations on the purchase.

looks superb on you -- some are slow-release bonding agents --- give that 4k some quality time and see if it hits you -- and if not, hey at least you experienced it and should be an easy move

OP, exactly what TVal07 said.... It is perfect

I have sd4k too and love it

I think sd4k looks better on your wrist but that's my preference

I agree, it looks better on your wrist than the Sub. It is a niche watch and a watch geared towards the WIS/ collector. I love mine but initially might feel underwhelming. Give it a chance and itll grow on you. It def ticks all the boxes in my book. I chose mine over a Hulk if you can imagine that!

A lot of folk don't understand the Sea Dweller. Sometime in the past there was born a Submariner and Rolex created this as a general diver watch. But Rolex must have realised at some point there was need for a professional diver watch for those divers who go to greater depth and for divers who spend longer periods in the water, the Sea Dweller can do anything other mechanical dive watches can do but the SD has a lot more to offer besides in terms of robustness, hence the Sea Dweller was born.

If you compare the Sd with a Sub you can see the differences, and they may seem small but the small details make the SD a superior diver watch. For example, the matte dial is not a cosmetic choice, matte is less reflective than a gloss, a diver needs to see what his watch is telling him. The 360 degree bezel is to help the diver time longer dives/events more accurately. The case is more rounded again to cut down on unnecessary distraction. The watch to a diver is like a light to a miner, it needs to do the job it was made to do and do it well, life depends on it. The Sea Dweller is not a Sub, its a professional diver watch. The sd4k is as perfect as it could be for such a watch. The SD4k was made to complete the 40mm line of SD. Rolex knew it was only a short production run, since the 50th sd43 would have been on the drawing board back then.

I've said this before, but your either "get" the Sea Dweller or you don't.

It looks much better on your wrist and is the "better" watch, but if you don't "get it" then its probably not for you

Incoming SD4k

I had my name on the list as soon as the 4K was released a few years ago. Took a couple months to receive it from AD. Paid retail $10,400. Later saw the price drop to around 7k. A bit disappointing but had no intention of ever selling. I still wear it weekly. An awesome modern classic for sure! It’s aged quite well and I don’t baby it.

They look like identical watches. I mean everyone on here knows the difference, but out in the real world you have two of the same watches.
