Buying Air King date 5700 1984.

Hi. I've just seen a Air King, date, silver dial in a reputable jewellers in town. I have never owned a quality watch and this appeals to me.
It looks mint in a original box and it says it has papers. If I was to have a look at it what should I look for? What should I ask? Should it have had a service recently?
What should I be looking for on time keeping. It would have a guarantee from the jeweller. Any top tips please ??
It looks like a beauty. Selling for just shy of £3000.

Thanks All!!
