Potential discount at Australian AD?

I致e come across many threads (mainly from forum members in the US) where members receive discounts on original retail price on precious metal models, anything from 5 to 20 per cent.

Question for my fellow members in Australia: have you been offered a discount recently on any PM model? I知 increasingly tempted by the Bluesy and may be swayed if there would be a small discount involved.

Hate to say but no discounts on bluesy. Call any Aussie AD name and I値l tell you how they confirmed to me there was no discount on bluesy. I actually think you値l have to wait for 6 months to a year to get bluesy from any AD in Oz, so discount on such sought after piece is baseless.

Sad but true.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case for the desirable models

You would be lucky to find the model of your desire let alone a discount, but if you are a special customer to the AD (you have spent a lot of money with them) then you may possibly negotiate a discount. However, given that you are asking this question I would assume that you do not have a special relationship or history, in which case its likely to be full price.

Can稚 say I知 surprised. I知 currently 5 months in on the waiting list for a 114060, and have been given an estimated wait of just under a year. It痴 a patient man痴 game...

You wont even get a discount on a DD40 or a full gold sub. You might get like a 5% discount on a full gold Skydweller or a Platona but thats about it in Australia.

I reckon we are the worst country in the world to buy a Rolex. Better to give yourself a 2-3 day holiday to HK and pick up something.

Totally agree! Even Singapore airport gave me 12% discount on a TT DJ41.

LOL. You wish.
You'd be lucky to find a PM sub or daytona available for sale, but absolutely no discount! (at least here in Melbourne)

100% agreed. Aussie market is worst in Rolex supplies.

very interesting to know what i suspected to be the case re: AD's in Oz. but prior to finding out there is no discount usually there is no stock. euro watch gallery gets a few gold watches in and they are priced in line with forum prices more or less.

or i highly recommend DavidSW. i have bought half a dozen watches from him. a great seller to deal with. fedex brings his shopfront to australia very effectively (as little as 48 hours sometimes).

Really?

* They have a SS BLRO for $25k AUD now.
* Used Rose Gold SkyD on Leather for $42k AUD. Come on man. That is not inline with forum prices.

If that is not ripping you off I dunno what is. All Grays in AU are NOT inline with any forum prices or even prices in HK. In fact MOST of them get their watches from HK or the US and just resell here in AU with a huge mark up. I've dealt with many of them before and I know their tricks

Might as well just buy direct from where they do.

Try Canada . With exchange of certain currencies .i think Canada one of cheapest to buy Rolex . I get them tax free . I work in US but live in Canada . So I get a good xchnge rate . Daytona cost 12,400 USD that 16,200 CAD . A DAYTONA in Canada COST 14,250 CAD . That makes cost of a Daytona in Canada is 10,900 USD roughly with today exchange rate . 1500 US dollars cheaper in Canada . This is for all Rolex models . An I was able to swing almost 30% off on a gold sub an white gold Pepsi . If they really want to mak3 the sale they will nego . Stick to guns an don稚 fold

It all sounds pretty bleak! I spotted a BNIB 116613LB yesterday at a Gray dealer - they were asking $22,000 AUD... 5K over retail!

I had a chat with a chap that works at the Hour Glass, gold models get you 5% off depending on the model.

Seriously bleak reports here. It makes me feel slightly better about my experience with a certain Sydney AD last month: they gave me the call about the blue Milgauss but when I went in they only had the black and were all like whoops.

FWIW, I introduced a friend of mine to my AD before xmas, he purchased a RG SkyDweller and received approx. 12% discount. He had no prior history with the AD, I have a longstanding history with them. Initial price given after intro was at around 5%.

Went to ADs and Rolex Boutique in both Perth and Melbourne(few times). No SS sport models at all. Most won't accept waitlist unless you're a regular customer, or they hinted they can make things happen by buying few watches from them.

I saw a WG Sub the first time I walked into The Hour Glass. Went back after a week, gone again. They probably have less than 15 Rolex watches on display.

I doubt you would get much or if any discount these days even with the PM sports models.

I know some of them have them in the back - The SS :-) That's coming from someone working at an AD. Only gets released to their VVIP clientele.

Yep. Just went into an AD today in Melbourne and the salesperson started the "hush hush" whispers when I walked in the store. The customer was wearing a CHNR. Can only assume he's a VVIP

You're unlikely to get a discount, because the PM sports watches are now starting to become as rare as the SS sports watches. Just take a look at the websites of the TRF trusted sellers.

Also, as others have mentioned, you will need an existing relationship with the AD to be able to negotiate a discount. Even then, the discount won't be much (say 10% at most?).

As Mr Gray says above, I would normally recommend that you try buying from one of the TRF Trusted Sellers. However, with the current exchange rate and with interest rates rumoured to be cut soon, the exchange rate is making the TRF Trusted Sellers route much more cost prohibitive.

I've said this numerous times forget Australia for any Rolex. Plus because of the weak AUD and demand in pretty much all Rolex watches you will get a big fat zero discount.
