Royal Oak Chrono trade for DayDate 40....

I am strongly considering trading my 26331 Panda dial AP chrono for the Rose gold day date 40 with the green anniversary dial and rose gold roman numerals (I would have to add cash to the trade)

I currently have a 116710 BLNR (wedding gift I would never sell), the 26331 ST panda dial ROC, and a 26405CE ROO black ceramic which I love dearly and wear frequently.

I am thinking it is time to add some gold to the collection, but it has to come as a trade plus cash, as I cannot currently spend the 30k+ to add another watch to the collection.

Just curious if people thought this was a good move based on my small collection. Am I crazy for trading up the ROC panda? The everose day date 40 with the green dial has had my attention for some time now. Any input would be great, thanks!

I'd say go for it. Having a PM in the collection is really awesome - and the dd40 feels amazing on the wrist. The heft of the gold makes all my other pieces feel like titanium! Haha

But yes - you'd be adding a very special piece!

Thank you! I was set on a day date II for a little while and recently tried on the DD40 with that olive dial and fell in love. I like the 41mm of the DDII but I like the dial and overall dimensions of the case/bezel/dial of the DD40, and I just cant get over the olive dial.

I have 2 DD 40's and the AP Chrono and I highly favor the DD's for a daily wear type of watch that can take some beating. With that said there is no way on this earth I would trade a far superior watch for a Rolex. If you want the DD go grey and save yourself several thousand. Your money and choice but you asked!

I would definitely get the DD40 gray market, and already have a great opportunity lined up. The only reason I think I am ok with trading up the ROC is because I would still be left with a Royal oak offshore in ceramic, so the collection would still have AP in it....just not a stainless AP anymore

I have let go of the ROC once and regretted it. It was quickly back in the stable. Your money and your choice so if you like it go for it!

I actually did the exact trade! Value wise it’s probably not a good move because the value for the AP Chrono continues to go up, and the value for the DD will probably drop down the road. However, the main reason I got the DD was because so that I can become a VIP with my Rolex AD. I don’t regret it because the AP chrono is a little too big for my wrist, and the DD’s green dial and the president bracelet is just amazing! Good luck and let me know what you decide.

I don't think I would do it. The AP ROC is a beautiful watch, especially on the bracelet. Probably my favorite bracelet out there.

Big AP fan but I would do that as a full PM piece is a joy to be discovered, plus you have a great CE 44.

I wouldn't make that trade personally. Both watches are beautiful but something about an ROC...

Thanks for all of the feedback. I think I'm leaning towards making the trade. I have a strong relationship with my Audemars AD at the moment (bought the CE44mm offshore as well as a 15400ST this year at retail) so if the time comes that I need to get the ROC panda back, I don't think my AD would give me too much of a hard time :)
