Icon5 Thoughts on the Discontinued GMT TT YG 116713

This morning my AD texted me that they got a GMT TT YG 116713 in stock. That is right, a discontinued watch showed up in their delivery. Seems pretty odd, but I bit and went in to check it out. The fit and feel were tremendous. I'm tempted to say this was the best fitting watch I've ever tried on (over Pateks, AP & other Rolex). Compared to my steel Daytona, the weight was noticeable and I really enjoyed those few extra grams. It made the Daytona feel light and unsubstantial. As I kept my eyes on it, it was like looking at an <insert Italian sportscar>. I appreciated it, but knew it wasn't for me. One day I'll have a GMT, but today wasn't it.

What do you all think about the 116713?

This was my first Rolex, and is my everyday wear. I love the weight as you mentioned and I feel that the two tone look is captivating but not overwhelming. For reference, I do like the look of all gold watches, and will probably be purchasing a PM Sub or Daytona as my next sport watch.

Back to the 116713, it definitely gets noticed, I was out to lunch with a new hire today and the first comment she made was regarding my GMT. I'm personally not sure I how feel about the attention, but if you're into that then fear not. The watch has presence, which isn't something I was used to.

I wasn't even thinking about the attention it would attract, but I can see how it would. I guess that is the yellow gold?

The last watch I walked away like this was the YG Green Dial Daytona. It had a similar feeling - very tempting, but it didn't really grab me. You hit the nail on the head - "captivating but not overwhelming."

Wearing mine now...
To me, the black-gold combo is magical.
A beautiful, comfortable watch.

Love mine. To me the 116713LN looks better than CHNR.

Her comment was along the lines of, "I keep noticing your watch. Is it real yellow gold? It must speak to your personality."

Everyone else pointed out that I'm one of the "louder" people in the office so I had to chuckle a bit. I usually see myself as more lowkey. Ironically when I unboxed the watch, I was concerned it was too much - but have really grown to love it.

Not a fan of these at all for some reason. Or a TT black Sub. I have no idea why.

TT blue Sub however, that's a watch I really really like.

I prefer it to the two tone submariner but prefer the two tone Daytona to it but will likely never buy any of them.

I had the opportunity to buy the TT YG GMT awhile back but opted for the TT RG Yachtmaster instead. I preferred the more subtle shade of the everose. Less blingy, more refined.

I love this watch, to me it was the perfect Rolex. A year after I purchased my YG tt GMT I had an itch to add a tt sub, so I opted for the blue bezel and sunburst dial. For me they make a perfect tt pair, different complications and colors. I wear each to suit the occasion or my mood, and boy when I put either one on my wrist do I feel good!

Personally I do not like the combo of steel, gold, and black. To others it looks amazing.

Aaaah, the 116713..........

Lots here not on my wants list
TT
Maxi case
Ceramic bezel
MSRP high
Green dial elements hard to see
Too big and heavy
Too showy

Why I just bought one
Looks beautiful
Fit and comfort feels perfect on my 7.25inch wrist
Black on the bezel is so deep and shiny you want to dive into it
Gold on the bracelet flows like a river
Gold numbers pop
Gold Rolex emblem on the clasp
50th anniversary green elements on dial and 24hr hand
Green makes the dial look uncluttered
Overall dial effect with big markers is black & white
Bezel just pops
Newer model so has Rolex warranty
Perfect to sit and stare at
Makes all my SS watches look boring
I buy what I like

So you have guessed I am smitten:

One of the best looking watches out there. Discontinued now also so if you have the chance to get it at RRP pounce.

I really like it. If I was going TT with a black dial this would be it from Rolex.

It was my first Rolex as well. Being two-toned helps make it suitable for sport or dress wear. I love it.

Nope. But I don’t like the gaudy 80’s look of any two tone watch.

Love this watch. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Over the past weekend I spoke with an SA at a local AD.
He said there are SS and TT GMT II that are still circulating by Rolex due to left over inventory from factory. So if you're lucky, like OP you can still buy them at MSRP.

Pictures can never do justice to a two-tone Rolex in person. I think the 116713 is one of the best examples of this.

Beautiful watch but didn’t do it for me. Saw them multiple times at the AD and didn’t care for the green gmt hand

I don't get why people love it. If you're a grandpa, sure, you can rock it. But this over other steel models in the price range? NO.

I tried a used one a while ago. Really like it, not quite as much as bluesy and not the right time.

The bling factor rises tremendously with the 116713 over the all stainless 116710LN. Great looking watch though.
