Seiko Presage basic line watch - opinions?

I am looking to buy and ad hoc watch to take on holidays and wear generally when doing manual work etc. It needs to be cheapish - like cheap enough that I can leave it in a hotel room and not stress about it etc.

I saw this Seiko in person today and really liked it. I especially liked the dial.

What are peoples opinions about the Presage line and in this watch in particular? I don't know much about Seiko but can I do better? This watch costs about $500.

Pictures below. The model is SARY079 (cocktail time) . Thanks

I own three of them and they are very nice watches. BTW, there is a Seiko sub-forum.

I recently bought a Starlight and I was positively impressed by its quality! I think there is nothing in that price range that can compare!

I have also wondered about the bracelet. Anyone own one with the bracelet?

I love that watch, the sarx017. I had the similar one on steel bracelet, didn't wear it much and sold it. Then I got the 17 w red tip and again, didn't get much wear time but I appreciated it and gave it to a friend who loves it. I may get another one but they are not easy to find now and kind of up in price. Funny, it is the only watch that ever got a compliment from someone!

Once you get it sized, would love to hear your feedback on the bracelet.

Got it done this morning. The bracelet is nice and very comfortable. Looks great with the links in a brushed and polished mix. The double clasp is crisp and accurate and very easy to close and open. For the money this is really nice. It is quite light though which initially makes the watch a little top heavy. Of course the finish is decent but not in the same ballpark as AP, Patek or Rolex.

Overall I am very happy with this watch. Works perfectly for how i intend to use it.

I just picked this one up this afternoon and it is a little shocking how buttery smooth the bracelet is!
