Rolex DAYTONA 6263 big red very rare original vintage
Very nice vintage Daytona 6263 here (it really is) -->
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-DAYTONA-62...3A1|240%3A1318 BUT...... At the bottom under payment details it says "Paypal Acepted". Then, in the auction description seller states "PS: payment by bank wire only". Buyer beware if you want the full price protection Paypal offers in case something goes bad. |

I'd do the same. Tell the guy I'll meet him in person, take the watch with him to an AD, pay for the authentication, and then pay the thirty grand.

Stephane sells some very nice vintage watches. Unfortunately he is the seller that tkbarger started off copying his entire webpage. Here is his genuine webpage and the watch appears here as well.

One thing to consider. most AD's have no clue as to authenticity of vintage, Sorry. But it is true. Jeff Know who you are buying from. Trust who you are buying from. Or do not buy from them. And always buy your Rolexes with a receipt with the serial number on them for cross referenceing purposes. If there is a probelm, you have recourse. |

The problem is that most AD's have no idea what to look for in fakes.
Probably close to the HALF of the 1200 Rolexes we sell each year on ebay come from AD's and reputable store owener who deal in vintage daily. Trade ins and such. (The other half come from over the counter) ANd we reject probably 20 percent of all Rolex President (usually due to bogus counterfeit bands) and probably 60% of all Daytonas. Today, we saw a real breakthrough in fakes. I am going to open another thread on it. Jeff You have to remember, that most AD's do not deal regularly in true vintage and many hae only been at it for a 10 or 15 years or less. There are a HUGE amount of DAytonas out there (just check this board) with old valjoux movements from other watches with a bridge attached that says Rolex and a genuine dial and cases that will fool MANY seasoned collectors! Be careful! |

Err buddy Pav...there would not be any need for any additional protection when
anyone deals with buddy Stephane ... He is simply one of the BEST trusted collector/dealers in the market... His watches are 1st class... |

I agree with Orchi in that the request for bankwire is strange in that if Ebay sees it they will suspend the auction(watch category is paypal and pickup only.. I think), however, he could simply add "payment on pickup" as an option. I also agree with Jeff, most ADs and alot of vintage dealers are not going to see "beyond the obvious" as to whether the watch is fake. KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM! That is the real beauty of this site!! Even if you have not dealt directly with someone before, there are trusted friends here who probably have!

Good to know buddy Orchi. He is definitively risking his auction by insisting on wire only though. This is the problem selling high value items on eBay.... their piece of the pie is too big for sellers to swallow. |
