Does anyone know what the Explorer II's black hands are made of?

I wonder the same about the painted black index.
In the previous versions they were made of white gold.
I guess they got painted over or Roles found the real black gold

I think it's enamel paint, so should last quite some time in the hermetically sealed oyster environment.
