Why do they not make the bracelet for the Sub solid as they do for DJs?
Not only would it be more balanced, it would also feel more solid and quiet.

Basel 2009. They will probably change it to the newer bracelet.

For some reason I don't understand, I quite like the "Rolex Rattle"

Maybe it scares off barracudas who are attracted by the glint from the polished case sides ?

But seriously, jimbo1mcm is correct... the new YG/WG Sub already has a solid link bracelet with the GlideLock clasp, and the expectation is that a TT model will show at Basel this year, with SS following next year

1. Some say to save money. (this idea makes me sick as we paid thousands!!!)

2. Other say the real reason is to make the watch lighter so it is not too heavy? and now in the bling era heavy means more.

Thoughts anyone on the REASON?

OK,..I'll give you the reason put forth by some collectors who have studied bracelets.

Originally when Rolex developed the "tool watch" concept--that is specific models for specific examples, it was felt a bracelet made of hollow links provided a means where by dirt, foreign matter, contaminants, etc... could escape decreasing wear on the bracelet.

Dirt, etc... grinding against the links promotes wear.

As Rolex moved more and more away from the tool watch and more to the luxury side, solid linked bracelets came more in vogue.

As stated Rolex seems set to complete the trend in the near future with the Sub.

It will be interesting to see what the fate of the 14060M may be. The last of what we might call the "true" tool watch.

Thank you Mike. Everyone this is the answer to the long asked question. It would seem true would it not? What was the sub made for? Mikes answer seems the best to me!
