Nice combo! @drhorton, I am wondering how your SD43 wears in comparison to your, Polar? I have the Polar and love it. I am debating between the 40mm Sub and the 43mm SD43. I really like the look of the Sd43, however I am concerned of it being too thick. Thanks for any insights.

I am a big guy (6'5" 250) and have an almost 8" flat wrist. To my eye a 40mm Rolex Professional is too small on me. When I got my SD43 the AD actually had a Sub Date which I was able to try on and compare directly. There was no question after seeing them on my wrist which one I should choose. The SD43 gets some flack for being an overgrown Sub Date. For me and my wrist, that is exactly what I wanted and it is just about perfect. As a side note, the guy I bought the Polar from had a Deep Sea 126660 in black. I asked him to wear it to our exchange so I could try it on. I had never seen this reference in the flesh. Now that watch is thick. I've seen the videos and pics but there is a big jump from even the SD43 in thickness. It felt really good though, did not seem top heavy and I thought looked really nice. I keep a list of watches I would like to own and I added the JC version to it last night. Back to your original question. If you have the wrist and stature, the heft and thickness of the SD43 won't be an issue at all. I am sitting here with my Polar on while writing this and I am not saying to myself, "Wow this watch is so much lighter and easier to wear". The only time I really noticed is when I took off the Polar to take a shower last night. When I had the chance for either if I would have chosen the Sub Date I believe I would have regretted it. |
