HELP - Buying a 16600 without box and papers

Hi everyone,

Thinking of picking up a 16600 from the 2000s without box and papers. The watch has been worn daily so there are scratches but seller claims it has never been polished, and the watch was services by RSC in Netherlands in 2016 but he doesn’t have service papers either. Please help me with these 2 questions.

1. What would you recommend as a fair price for it? (I know it’s difficult to say without photos, I’m hoping to snap a few ones to post on here after I meet the seller)

2. Is there any way to retrieve service records from Rolex? If so, pls let me know how. I’m located in Vancouver.

Cheers

Awesome watch mate, my dad has one and love it! I would suggest you to offer him, without box and papers ~$6500, it’s a fair price IMO. Look at some images of my dad’s one...

I gifted one to my wife (she loves it), M serial. I think they are going anywhere from $6.5k (93% F serial) to $16k (NOS V serial)

Below right, holds its own against big brothers

I'd say 6000 to 6500 then send to RSC, pay 150 and have them write you a letter of 'evaluation for insurance purposes' if the watch does not need servicing. Easiest way to obtain a paper confirming authenticity and legitimate provenance. And congrats on the 16600, a true classic

Agree here, I have had owned two 16600, one was a F series with B+P from 2003 and had it serviced in 2013 a year before I sold it for $6400. The 16600 is build like a tank, the most solid watch i’ve ever had.

Actually You should be able to get one with b+p for $7000 from a trusted dealer.

Sounds like the seller is flipping a watch he/she acquired from someone else. Personally, I would not be interested unless Rolex could verify the service, and that it is not on any of their "lists". I would also want to have a competent watchmaker authenticate it as genuine.

Not for me.

The correct answer is ... we can’t help without photos. Condition matters greatly. It’ll be obvious once we see the watch, otherwise we truly are speculating in the worst way. Service records? This isn’t a Ferrari, Porsche or Aston - it’s more of a hummer h1. Again, will be able to see what life it’s led once you post some pics. A nice daylight shot of the watch front and center please.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up about the lack of box and papers. They are only important to collectors. In the old days before the internet people bought Rolex's to wear so most didn't really keep track of the papers after the warranty expired.

I'd have a third party verify authenticity. Depending on condition a fair price would be $6500 plus or minus.

Finally, its a great watch. I regret selling mine.

The seller should be able to get a copy of his receipt for the service from the RSC he used.

Based on classifieds here, the 6.0-6.5 K mentioned above seems quite low.

Without box and papers the sellers reputation is paramount. That’s why I always recommend buying the seller, so to speak, when buying pre owned

Agreed. I've been watching prices lately on watchrecon in preparation to buy one. I think the lowest you'll find is $6500 and that seems to be the very low end of the spectrum.

Hello everyone, here are some photos as promised.
The bracelet has a lot stretch, crystal has scratches, bezel insert is not in good condition, and the case has dents and a lot of scratches. The watch has been enjoyed and never polished. Pls give your opinion of what the fair price would be for it, and pls let me know if photos look okay in terms of authenticity. Pls keep in mind there are no box or papers.

The NL does not have a RSC only a few AD's with service departments, nearest is in Belgium or Germany.
