It has to be a grail watch or some special significance for it to be worth it. You mentioned "building" a collection, and you could do a fair amount of building if you put the money towards other references. However, as others have mentioned, if you've got the itch, there is no substitute. I'm not a Daytona guy really but that diamond dial with the blue sub dials is stunning.

Two PM will be my preference for two reasons: 1)with the price range of Platona I will look at other brands like PP, and 2)SS daytona white kind of cannibalizes Platona, at least to me.

Do you prefer a Bentley Continental GT or a 911 and an S class? Do you want something exclusive or two options more versatile? I would rather have more options in the morning rather than having a (beautiful) chronograph without the date.

Last, I may be misreading your message, but you don’t sound to be extremely comfortable with the idea of spending that much money on a single watch yet. That may be the amber flag you should pay attention to...!?

Having only one PT watch is no fun

Its better to have several SS, a few in Gold, and then getting PT

Wearing PT alone will get boring. However wearing PT in rotation with other watches will ensure it is always appreciated.
