Oh wow nice pick up by him! Hopefully he keeps that bad boy vs selling it!

I had my uncle go in and didn’t get anything either...

Local place is having a tasting. Any thoughts on this line up with a $245 price tag for a ticket? I’m new to this hobby and haven’t tried any on the list.

Thanks!

Pikesville Rye
Henry McKenna 10Y Single Barrel
Old Fitzgerald 13Y Bottled-in-Bond
Evan Williams Single Barrel
Larceny Bourbon
Old Fitzgerald Prime from the 1970s
J.W. Dant 7 Year Bourbon from the 1970s
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon

Heavy price tag and no heavy hitters, the Dant isn't great and IMHO it's the best of this lot. Old Fitz isn't worth anyone's time unless it's pre 80's or specific rare lots from the 90's and BIB. Old Prime and Modern BIB is a total yawn IMHO.

Thanks Marc. Appreciate the input - you saved me some coin to spend on a bottle for home.

I must agree.
It’s a hefty price for that lineup....
The McKenna is the whiskey of the year however you’re likely not getting the same barrel that won.

Peace!

That price tag is outrageous lol - glad you didn’t spend the coin!

Old Fitz is really the only decent bottle in the line up IMP; you could buy the bottle on secondary for that price too. Everything else is plain Jane...

Yeah the price seemed high to me but I figured it was worth checking in here with the experts before making a decision.

I liked this a lot.
As a confirmed life-long Scotch drinker I rarely venture to any other spirit but a friend turned up with a bottle of this and we had a few drinks.
It is floral, sweet and with a fair amount of depth with a kind of honeyed character.
Sells for about A$70. here and definitely worth a try if you haven't already.

Old Fashionds tonight! I use Rittenhouse Rye for mine. Whats your favorite rye or bourbon for old fashionds?

I bit the bullet and ordered a few bottles from an international seller in the Netherlands. I got a Blanton's Gold and a SFTB. Prices were way less than stateside sellers (all in with shipping, it was less than a bottle of Gold goes for on the secondary here). Looking forward to popping them open.

I'm traveling out of the country next month and will be sure to hit up as many Duty Free shops as possible; I think I'm going through Frankfurt en route to Poland.

Has anyone had any luck with any of the new releases coming out? I believe the EH Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods bottle should be in some locations, along with Weller Full Proof. If I can find those at retail, I will pick them up, but my area is a dead zone for hot bottles. I'd like to find a Rebel Yell 12 (100 proof) and maybe a Baker's 107 13-year.

Lastly, I'm looking forward to the Kentucky Owl Rye Batch 3 and Bourbon Batch 9. Should be out before the end of the year in my area.

What was the site you used?

No luck on either of the Weller or EHT I live in Ohio and I swear if they don’t lottery those bottles I’m going to lose it.

We just had a really nice drop of Michter Barrel strength rye, EHT SiB and Stagg jr.

I haven't seen ANY of that even hit the secondary market yet, congrats on being one of the first to get a bottle.

Be sure to let us all know how it is, and if it's significantly better than the 107... I would love a bottle, but the realist in me says at 114 proof with no age statement it's probably just a slightly souped up 107 that will go on the secondary market for 4x that of the Antique....

But we would all love to hear your thoughts!

I like the Antique. If you end up not liking the Full Proof, hit me up and I’ll take the rest off your hands!

Picked up this at the urge of my supplier...said they were “flying off the shelf” and he said everything they’ve put out has been great.
I guessed for $40 I should give it a try

Anyone a fan of this stuff???

Caribbean cask is a bit too sweet. It’s like a desert wine and I can only have about a half dram before I’m over it. It’s definitely a nice change though.
