I have this. It’s brilliant. They call it a key tray but it fits a watch and a pen plus cufflinks really nicely. Smythson of Bond Street are renowned for their amazing leather products. The quality of the materials and detailing (such as the stitching) are superb.
It’s on sale at the moment -as at 12th August. I picked mine up in the last sale. Would I pay £295 full retail for it? - No. But on sale at £177 it’s a good pickup. They have a range of colours and designs - some more appealing than others. Mine is the Bond version. There is also one called the Kingly on sale at £118 which is 60% off. https://www.smythson.com/int/stripe-...y-1021995.html I had a look at the Hermes valet tray you mentioned a while ago. A couple of sizes. The leather would likely be AAA quality but it felt flimsy and overpriced at around $US560 ($AUD850) from memory. While you’re on the Smythson site, check out the watch winders just out of curiosity. You’ll dig pretty deep for one but they are designed to be a focal point. There’s one called the Grosvenor rotary watch box on sale at £1198 - down from £4995. Here are some pics of a couple of the winders. If you go into the site, click on the “last chance” dropdown for the sale. There are more economical valet tray products available that do the job really well (Etsy and eBay where you can pick up a fabric model for $12. But if top shelf workmanship is your thing, it can’t hurt to look at Smythson. |
