That is a seriously beautiful watch.

1. I must wear them. I’m not a “collector” who likes to have them hanging around.
2. Each has a distinct purpose or a very specific look. I color coordinate my watches with my clothes.
3. If it always loses rotation to others, it’s time to go.

I’m at 9 now, which is pushing it for me, but with the rules above:

1. YG
2. RG
3. SS
4. Travel
5. Dress on Leather
6. Black - 2
7. Cozy titanium
8. Beater

I may do another PM - a platinum DD or WG Sub. Also want a loud colorful Ceramic and am looking at Hublots and AP’s.

It’s a fun game we get to play here isn’t it?

For Ceramic have you looked into the Zenith Defy Classic Ceramic? The colors are only, white, black and blue but there is a special edition that is black with orange, Swizz Beatz.

I feel like with the way values have risen on several of my SS watches, that this might be the time to "step up" and really go after some of my grail watches.

Many of my most admired collections on this forum are those with 6-7 watches. Maybe 2-3 PM watches, a couple of great stainless models, and from a few different manufacturers. In short, a smaller, more focused collection including more "grail" type watches.

Has anyone done a significant consolidation to get a smaller, but more PM focused collection? Do you have any regrets? Did you enjoy the new PM pieces enough to take the sting out of losing some of your nicer SS offerings?

Appreciate the advice of those members that have done it. I should say, one of my watches on order is a blue dial WG Daytona, so the first piece in the potential collection transition is inbound. Thanks all.
You got a lot of great responses already, I just wanted to add one of my own.

It boils down to what you will really wear, enjoy and then hand down (if you want to of course) Myself if I had watches sitting in the case not being worn, I see no point in owning them.

You have quite the collection, I could definitely see a few of those SS pieces being condensed to make way for one or two great PM watches that you will really enjoy.

I know everything is about the steel sports models these days, but NOTHING can beat the feeling of a real PM watch on your wrist.

For what it's worth Mark I think you've done exactly the right thing, at the right time.

Cant wait to see the Platinum Day-Date incoming.

By the way what a great thread this has turned into!

Thanks OP, I’ve really enjoyed reading this thread, and would like to make my own contribution

Something I’ve been thinking about for some time is to get my first PM watch, but what to get?? and what to let go to get it??

I’ve made my decision The PM piece has to be the 126719BLRO

To raise the funds, BLNR which is unworn and was always going to be on the chopping block can go.
BLRO, can go, as it’s going to be replaced with another PEPSI anyway
SubC can go, as it can be replaced all be it with a wait, in future if I fancy another

This will leave me with my much loved and worn LV, my LVc, DJTT, Daytona and Monaco....plus of course the new 126719BLRO.

I’m off to the AD on Sat to see what a realistic delivery will be on the new watch, if it’s months then I’m gonna go for it, if it’s years, I’ll hang on to what I’ve got...

Great plan! Similar to my original plan until my AD could not get an allocation for the WG Pepsi! I shifted gears but my first PM of two is supposed to arrive tomorrow!

Nice one......

That could be my stumbling block too.... if the AD can’t get me one, in a reasonable time frame, I’ll have to come up with another plan, which may involve a PM Daytona instead...but again, that’ll depend on what’s available

We are in sync! I swapped to a WG Daytona Blue Dial! Also, here is the incoming thread for the new PM:

This thread needs to stay alive. One of the better threads of the year here.

I’ve been really working on consolidation, just got rid of a JLC, B’ling, Millie and added a PT DD 40. I’m close to my perfect set, maybe there. Been sitting on it . The only thing I once in a while consider is an AP RO in SS.

Then:

Probably one of the best decisions I ever made with my collection (not financially lol). Now I just need to take a new family pic.
