I use WristClean abt once a week, cleans and shines like no other, plus its environmentally friendly, only prob is that the shipping cost more than the product itself to my place.

Where I live during summer it tends to go around 30 C. So each evening before anything else I soap and rinse my watch with tap water at room temperature. That is a must for me.

I have a one week rotation and they get cleaned before being put away, I use Wristclean from Veraet and it does a great job.

First wash

This thread inspired me to take my watch into the shower for it's first wash.

Well... it was an experience, anyway. A few pointers to other newbies:
  1. The green box looks waterproof, but it isn't. And it doesn't dry out particularly well, the paperwork inside and booklet are damaged now.
  2. Bar soap gets bits stuck between the links, so I suggest only using liquid shampoo. I wasn't sure if I should use conditioner or not so I didn't, you may have better results if you do?
  3. After drying, the stickers on the watch have started to curl at the edges, making the watch look odd.

Not sure what to do now. Should I have it serviced so they replace the stickers?

Every couple of weeks I brush off the watch under the running tap. Daily during DIY/Renovation project(s).

Kind regards,
Oliver

I try to clean mine with soap and water once a week or so. Daily worn with minimal stretch so that must be more than enough. Even though I have two, I really only wear the one. Although that will change when I finally get around to buying a 114060.

Icon10 depends

i think it depends on the wearing conditions. if i am sweating like today during a hike, i rinse it off under the sink. no soap, just water and pat dry. if i am not sweating, i dont rinse it very often at all.

Check the timekeeping for accuracy first.
If it out any more than 2 seconds either way then yes, definately send it in for the full spa treatment.

Glad I found this thread before scratching up my new GMT.

Had two Breitlings before and wondered why they were getting a bunch of micro abrasions. Guess it was because of my stupidity. I'd wipe them down dry with a microfiber cloth at the end of day without rinsing off any debris beforehand. Nothing a little bit of Cape Cod couldn't fix, but hated over polishing them.

Bought some WristClean spray and cloths. Won't make the same mistake again.

Would cleaning PCLs with a soft toothbrush give it hairline scratches? I clean my brushed pieces this way, but haven't done it on PCLs...

Thanks in advance!

Yes it certainly will, wiping it when there is dirt on it will scratch it aswell as wiping with polyester. In the right light and with 20/20 vision you will see a great deal of hairlines in my experience

I've owned my Submariner for a year now and never fully cleaned it.

However, I go for a 5km run 3 times a week during my lunch break (Wearing my Sub) so I shower with it on and make sure soap and water fully cover the watch.

Don't want to baby it, nor do I want it being manky, so feel a shower is more then enough.

About once every two weeks but there is no official schedule. When i do it usually lifts quite a bit of grime and the watch come out looking better.

i take a soft toothbrush and mild soap with warm water to mine fairly regularly. and i shower with whatever i’m wearing unless it’s on a leather or NATO strap.

Every evening at 8:30 pm prompt, I prepare an organic herbal bath and allow my Pepsi to sit in it for precisely 7 minutes after which is gently dried on a soft fluffy towel. It tells me that it helps it’s aching links and joints.
