Servicing a skx007?

Hello all. Yes is time! Any recommendations for a place in Miami to service a SeikobSKX007? Thanks!

There's plenty of repairers in South FLA (Google) but pricing, warranty, time required, will be all over the place on a Seiko.

Curious on the age and what the symptoms are because a broken SKX isn't common unless there's abuse. They can go 20 - 30yrs without a service.

What would be unfriendly to the environment inside the watch?

It's honestly probably cheaper to find a new 7S26 movement, teach yourself how to swap it, buy the parts, and upgrade it yourself. Or better, buy a 4R36 and drop it in as an upgrade.

A service on a 7S26 will run at least $120; buying a 4R36 new is about $35. Just a thought...

Ohhh ok. Well to answer some questions. Chewbacca, my Skx007 is from 2006 is working great! Now the crown is tricky. Is a bit difficult to set the day/date window. Other than that no problems. I thought it was time for service.

The crown swap shouldn't be more than $25 - $50

That'll help with the crown position issue. I highly doubt its anything more than that on a SKX but only a tech could say for certain.

Crown P&OS on SKX:

Unscrew
I) Nothing
II) Day
III) Date
IIII) Sets time

Try moving the hands around until the date changes. If it doesn't, the date wheel is fine.

If it still doesn't with the P&OS I and II, then something could be misaligned between the crown stem and the date/day wheels it is supposed to turn.
