i know this pain - but with guitars. i traded my custom-shop les paul goldtop and a vintage sound city amp for a beautiful custom-shop sunburst les paul. i took it home, and it sounded like absolute sh*t, both plugged in and acoustically. i ended up trading it back for the goldtop, but i lost the amp in the process. same situation: try before you buy!
