Not sure what it is about the DDII and the fluted. Something just doesnt do it for me. Also for whatever reason IMO it makes it look fake. Dont want to piss anyone off hut its just my opinion. With that said the blue with the sticks and smooth bezel is amazing!

Stick & fluted for me as well.
The current roman numeral fonts being used are just too thick and heavy. Not enough white space.. too imbalanced |

My apologies, I've seem to offend some people with thread title. I can't seem to edit the title? Mods please feel free to edit the title to something more appropriate. I was not thinking straight, had mixed emotions along with excitement at the time.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their opinion and insight. It was all taken into consideration. And actually helped me choose sticks over romans. Also special thanks to Saddlesc and Brandon for sharing their BEAUTIFUL timepiece in this thread!! I got a call this morning and the watches came in early. Today was decision day. I spent a good half an hour at the AD before walking out with my first brand new Rolex. And I went with...... <img src="http://i.imgur.com/mXXSnkn.jpg?1" /> It was a VERY tough decision. It came down to Fluted vs Smooth bezel. I chose the sticks over the Roman Numerals because of the darker blue dial shade. The darker blue looks much nicer to me. And I went with smooth over fluted because I found the fluted with sticks was very Shiny and in your face. The bigger fluted bezel also looks a little too much with the thick baton markers. The smooth bezel looks more clean & simple and really brings out the depth of the markers. After much deliberation in my mind. I am very happy with my choice. It was even hard to drive for the first few minutes because I couldn't stop looking at how great the watch looked on me. I'm definitely sucked in now. My next one will be a TT Romans Fluted for sure. And thank you again for the warm welcome everyone!! |

Analysis, paralysis...buy what you feel like at that moment and if you think you made a mistake, get another one to compensate...

Hate to complicate it any more because any of your choices are good. But a couple of things that may or may not be important to you is the stick dial is probably easier to read in low light because of the amount of lume; and the fluted bezel may hide those hairline scratches a little better than the smooth.
Good luck with your decision.

Fluted and I like the romans or arabic, but sticks is the real classic.

I had the DJII under serious consideration, for the same reasons as the OP, and was leaning strongly to the smooth bezel.
