My wife thinks they're all the same , I appreciate the history and function of both models and certainly understand why would anyone own both even if fitted with LN.

I think for the layman's they will look the same (especially LN versions) and they won't see the difference until you tell them (e.g. bezel, clasp, PCLs, GMT function). For me they look very different and could be in one collection for sure.

Sure, the LN Subs and GMTs aren't the most different watches in the world, but to the watch enthusiast, they can be planets apart.
Also, I think if you like one, it may be that you like that particular style of watch, so it makes sense that you would find the other appealing as well and want to own both. |

Yes, the watches do have a lot of superficial similarities, but they are two completely different watches with significantly different complications. Do some reading on the subject and I think you'll understand why both exist and why some of us like the idea of owning both and actually find uses for both. I don't have any pictures of my 14060M and my 116710 together, but I have the next best thing, maybe.

For me two SS black dials would be too similar, I would prefer them in different metals and could even have two Subcs with this criteria. |

I own both as well, and I would even say you can make 1 GMT look totally different with bezel and band options. They are both tool watches with different functionality, if one was actually a pilot and diver he/she would need both

I understand the difference in functionality of the watch. Im talking bout the appearance. It has the exact same bezel (black ceramic, only the numbers are different), exact same lugs, exact same hour markers, exact same bracelet, exact same hour and minute hands. If these two watches are not similar looking then I don't know which 2 watches are. I can assure you to someone who doesn't know about watches, won't be even to tell the difference.
As for the functionality, I don't dive neither il be using the second timezone much, so thats out. I just like the look of the Sub/GMT. The best looking rolex that I like is the Sub/GMT. I already own a TT Sub 116613 and a DDII YG. But since I saw the Sub/GMT full gold, I've fallen in love with it. I feel I need to get the full gold version. Now I'm thinking wither I flip my TT sub 116613 for a full gold one? or just simply buy a new Full gold GMT II?..I find the 2 very similar to each other, and owning both a TT and a full gold in black dial (the only dial i like) is a sane idea or not?... hence the question. |

My plan is to add a YG Sub/GMT and AP ROC 41mm in pink gold and strap like the one you have. I think you're right it'l be a better idea to the flip the TT sub for a YG version. So eventually il end up having a YG sub or YG GMT (haven't decided which one as yet), YG DDII and a AP ROC 41mm in pink gold and strap. After this my collection is complete . Il delete my account, not think of watches and never return to TRF ever again :P

To the trained eye they are completely different to justify having both. If you don't think so you haven't been reading here long enough.
